What's new

Hatfield and Charles West

I don't know anything about this, just thought it was ****ed up when BYU dismissed Brandon Davies from the team for having sex. I mean let the kid live.

BYU made it to the Elite 8 without him and would have had a legit shot to win it all with him.. It's a shame.

Serves him right for being a sinner.

Ummm, Charles West will join the team in January? And DOMO will probably be back with the utes? WTF is going on here?

The schools are letting the courts decide. I'm sure neither will play unless they are cleared of their respective charges.

Bronco said West's court stuff was been taken care of and he will be enrolling in January.

They sign a scholarship stating they won't do those things. Typically when people break a contract they signed, they're released from said contract or punished. They weren't forced to sign the contract, they knew exactly what they wrre doing. I think the rule is silly, but I don't disagree with punishing somebody for breaking a rule they acknowledged they wouldn't.

Let me get this straight:

Somebody is robbed by a six foot three black man.

Hatfield shows up later, is five foot ten, maybe and gets arrested, but later let go, no charges.

His biggest crime appears to be having been a black guy. If a big white guy robs someone and a little white guy walks by later, does the much shorter white guy get arrested?

Next, Hatfield is allegedly involved in a fight. No video, just one word vs another. Hatfield is again publicly maligned, for no real reason. Hatfield is kicked off the team. Oh, and Hatfield stole some phones.

Some kid on BYU is arrested for stealing stuff, he gets one game. Another kid from BYU sucker punches someone on TV, but he isn't arrested or kicked off the team.

Hatfield was screwed this summer. Or Utah has a much, much more strict disciplinary structure.

So, what did Hatfield do wrong?
There is no doubt West's offense(s) is worse. I'm not saying anything like that. What I'm saying is that of everybody here, it was you that came in here on your high horse about Utah being more strict, blah blah blah. If I would have predictex, I would have guessed you or UGLI would be the one.

Keep in mind this answer is coming from a Ute fan:

While I have no doubts that DH wasn't the man described in the robbery, I also feel just as certain that he was part of a group effort involving a robbery via craigslist scam. The fact that he got busted for selling stolen phones a couple of hours later under the same alias on Craigslist tells you all you need to know. That's not a coincidence.
