Have you ever met a Jazz Player?

Met Al, Carroll, Foye, Murphy, and Evans one day at Fashion Place mall. They were all really nice, especially Foye. He really seemed to sincerely appreciate it when I told him we were happy to have him here. Shook Big Al's hand. My husband and son met DWill a few years back...huge moment in my son's life as he was his favorite player. Have a picture of them together.

We also met the Mailman at Lagoon a few years ago. His family asked him what he wanted for his birthday and what he wanted was a trip to Utah. He and his wife did the catapult ride and it was hilarious...guy had to cram himself in there. We watched him walk around, greeting fans, not ignoring anyone or being rude to anyone that we could see. We saw him a lot...he was there all day.

Tell us more about Watson. Seems like we've had several reports of him not being too cool in person.

I saw him as I was walking up to the counter to pay for my breakfast. He was by himself and I believe he was getting take-out or something because he was paying and then sat down at the counter. After he sat down I went up to him to ask how he was doing coming off the injury. It was earlier in the season and I tried to be nice and say he looked good on the court. He didn't even look up at me and said, "I'm working hard". I asked him a couple other questions, I can't really remember, but, he was very short with me. I will say he has a beautiful car.

It sounds like you were jocking the dude while he was trying to eat... I think I'd probably be short too...

Back in the Salt Palace days, fans could stay after just outside the locker room until the players emerged to go to the parking lot. My best friend and I always stayed. Highlights:

Frank Layden was ALWAYS gracious to a couple of dumb teenagers. We'd chat him up about the next opponent and he'd give us some generic strategy and we felt like insiders. He called us son and we felt like family. Always a class act.

Karl (rookie or second season) was very friendly. Once he asked my friend to hold a box for him while he signed autographs for us. My friend was looking down int he box and Karl mock scolded him saying "Don't you be stealin' the cookies my momma made me!" After he was done he made us each a cookie.

We were a few blocks away another night and saw two guys waving to us from another car. It was Karl and Pace Mannion. We were pretty sure we were their best friends.

During the New Coke launch, they would hand out a six-pack in exchange for tearing out the advertisement in the program. We'd run around after the buzzer and pick up discarded programs, then get 3-4 six-packs each. Fred Roberts saw us and took a six-pack from each of us and ran up into the empty seats. My friend chased him a bit, worrying security until Fred told them to lay off. More than anyone he treated us like we were just like him...which I guess we were, given that he grew up in SLC and were only a few years younger.

One November Thurl Bailey mentioned that he didn't have big Thanksgiving plans for the next day. I very nearly invited him to my Grandma's house.

Random: Griffith was polite but nothing special. Dantley and Green signed without looking at the paper or making eye contact, as if you had asked them to remove a finger. On the opponents side they used to resort to all kinds of subterfuge to sneak Magic out a different door.

I played a game of two-on-two with DeShawn Stevenson, Boyd K. Packer and Wilford Brimley at Balley's in Midvale.

I met this girl who dated CJ Miles. Said she broke up with him because he only wanted to play video games.

I used to work at Wal-Mart back 3-4 years ago and my coworker sold an X-Box 360 to CJ Miles.
CJ was very low profile so I figured he didn't want to talk.

It's funny how both our stories relate.
