Hayward - a Bust or Not?

Is it really lucky if he keeps doing it over and over? He may seem out of control at times but believe it or not, this unorthodox style of play is actually just that, a style of play. He is actually very much in control and actually knows how to play basketball, imagine that.

You have proved me wrong.
I now have a correction to make on my last post.
Everything I said was wrong.

I now will rid myself of all sarcasm.

On a different note, I heard there is a new NBA Jam game coming out based on Jeremy Evans. Its called NBA Jam Stick-man. I hear its actually really fun to play, and those stick guys can really jump.

Are you describing Hayword or Kirilenko?
AK also has an extremely unortodox style of play. Of course I'm hoping Flash will be a better shooter, but if it's working for Gordon right now, let's not change it. He's only 20 and is by no means a finished product. One would hope his game will develop along with his body.

Every single person on this page who is giving Hayward ***** right now is simply a drama queen stirring the pot. Here is why:
1. The season hasnt started yet.
2. He's playing within the very difficult Jazz system.
3. He's only 20.
4. THE SEASON HASNT STARTED YET.
He was strong in the summer league, has had a few "good" games in the preseason, and a great game last night. I guess if your in the top ten draft picks your suppose to start off as an all-star. If you had to rank the rookies so far this year I bet Hayward would be ranked higher then his ninth draft pick status.

Can you record this in a skit, chewing gum, and a wearing Bronx Beat outfit.

Hayward for MVP!!! Really after one good game and six horrible games people were ready to name a street after the kid.

Some of the hyperbole with this kid is just out of control. He is a taller Harpring with better handles? Really?

Should we build around Hayward? Come on?

I went back and rewatched Hayward's great game. He banked in his first shot from the top of the key. Then made a couple free throws. He then received three pin point passes for layups. Other than his first shot, which he banked in, he never made a basket longer than 15 feet. The Lakers were guarding the kid with another rookie most of the game. He did have some great moves for layups, but it was not like it was against Kobe. I admit I never thought he could ever make 6 layups in a game, but everyone is way too excited over that performance.

Make up your mind. First you hate him then you praise the performance and now you hate him again. He had an off shooting night in limited minutes. If you couldn't see the positives in what he did last night then you really need to get your head out of the sand.

Did you only watch the first half? He made 2 jumpers in the second half that were over 15 feet out and one was pure. The kid is still a 20 year old rookie. He is going to have ups and downs. But He is going to contribute to this team this year. And is going to get better as the season goes on.

Hayward had an entry pass blocked last night and stolen. He saw the open guy and made the pass instinctively. At Butler, that pass is a sure thing. In the NBA, you've got to account for athleticism and skill of defenders even in the little things. The guy is definitely going to go through adjustments. But I've seen plenty of skill.

Did anyone see that first step drive he took from the wing in the second half? He botched the layup. But he saw the defender overplay him just enough, didn't hesitate, and blew past him much quicker than I thought he even could. You can't teach that stuff. The kid is really growing on me.

I see a decent role player, but I had hopes for at least a true starter quality player from the much anticipated pick.

I agree, oldtimer, your act is growing old just like yourself. Anyone who would dissect his Sunday's performance and nitpick at them is, imo, pathetic. The fact is he put himself in a position to get those easy layups and free throws by hustling all the time. If all your going to do this season is creep out of the wood work when Hayward has a bad game or Sanders has a good game just get lost.

Just like my original post, huh?

The only one who has developed faster is George. But I'm still sticking with Hayward. I like his overall game. He just needs to calm down a bit. His dribbling seems to be out of control at times. And hopefully he can tweak his shot somehow. After such a great couple of months to end last season, he's been off. Perhaps adjusting to more minutes and more energy expended on the defensive end.

I think Hayward and Favors are our 2 best defenders. Burks is great too...but he still makes a couple mistakes here and there.

Who cares though, Hayward and Burks are Miles ahead of Miles.

Yeah, Hayward has his moments. Favors by far though. I remember one play with the shot clocking running down he smothered Harden on the perimeter and Harden had to force up a fadeaway 3 over Favors.
