Talks about Burke, Favors, Defense, Brad Jones, the rest of the team. Says he wants to be a Jazz man and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Talks about being a leader and coming back to SLC in early September to set up early practices with the new guys and get a jump on season.

I'm impressed with Gordon's efforts to become a leader this offseason, with visiting SL on his own dime/time, to cutting Summer short and getting the team cracking. He is definitely not on board for a tank.

Oh please, every year before season players from washingtons, charlottes, clevelands and other tankers saying same right things like that. Do you expect them to say, - "hey it is a loaded draft next year and our front office just signed bunch of tank commanders so we would suck and lose as many games as possible"?

That's probably true with 99.9% of NBA players, but we're talking about god here. It's different.

Were talking about Hayward, you know, the guy who is pissed if he loses a game to -well anyone-, though specifically Jeremy Evans and likely Alec Burks.

I don't like thinking about what it will do to our guys if they lose so many games that they get used to it. As I have said, if they don't at lest compete in games, say goodbye to one or two of them because the Jazz can't pay all of them ten mil or more and a new draft pick's first max deal too.

Your logic is baffling. Players don't often mirror the desires of their f/o. Rigby, Lindsey, O'Connor might be okay with a subpar record if it netted them a superstar from the draft, but why would that be in Hayward's best interest? His rookie contract is ending. He feels like he has something to prove with his new leadership role. And what if a tank netted a superstar in his position? I don't think he'd want to see his minutes cut again.

I highly doubt any of our core players are approaching this season like they want to tank. Our bench may force a bad record with the way it is constructed, but that doesn't mean any of the core 5-6 took part in the tank. I would be happier if our young guys came away with a good record this year, because it would mean we already have some very special players. This season is a win/win regardless of the outcome.

Super pumped for Hayward to put the league on notice.

I read a 5-on-5 on ESPN and someone mentioned Klay Thompson as one of the most promising young SG's. The only thing Thompson does better than Hayward is get his shot off quicker, but that is literally it. The ****ing scrub only managed .5 FTA per game in the playoffs this past year despite playing 41 mpg.

Hayward is an SF now.

If I understand the Jazz system correctly, there is little difference between the SG and SF positions. (also little difference between the PF and C)

Yes.

also, that is basically the nba in general

Obviously the core 4 does not plan tanking. But unfortunately they are going to be handed heavy minutes and no help from the bench. Which will result in paltry record and high pick in stacked draft. Which is great at the end of the day as long as they gain positive experience from all that playing time and their mentality is not damaged by constant losing.

Holy **** that's abysmal.

Holy **** that's abysmal.

Kyle Korver takes it to the rim more than Klay Thompson does.

I'm willing to bet that Thompson has the worst shot to FTA ratio (for players who get over 10 shots per game). I did the math and he has worse ratio than Al Jefferson and Randy Foye.

Dude is either allergic to contact or never drives the ball.

To the 5 on 5's credit, someone posted him as the most overrated SG in the NBA and said this about him:
Weidie: Klay Thompson. It's hard to blame the natural inflation via Golden State's run last season and fuel from rabid Warriors fans. The fact is that Thompson is kind of a liability on defense right now and can't really produce his own shot from close range. Thompson played in 38 more games than Eric Gordon last season but made only one more FG than Gordon from inside 12 feet. He's good, just not as good as some think.

Holy crap to that stat.

Thompson is a glorified Kyle Korver right now. Just a chucker with a super quick release who is liability on defense and doesn't do anything else offensively. I'm pretty confident Burks can end up being the better SG just because I think he will go out and do more things on the court and be more efficient. Thompson will give you crazy shooting games, but he also has games where he takes a ton of shots (misses them) and doesn't get to the foul line.

Wish i could say the same, but at nearly every turn, Burks has let me down. maybe my expectations were too high to begin with.

So he has let you down by performing quite well whenever he has been given the oppurtunity? (Which has been rare)

He has been better than bell, howard, watson, tinsley, and foye.... as a 19, 20, 21 year old kid playing for a coach who has no idea how to utilize his skillset and has no confidence in him

I like Hayward's confidence about the team's ability to score. I hope he's right, but until they prove otherwise, I see them in the bottom third of the league. Someone needs to emerge as a short-clock threat, or there'll be plenty of games in the 80s. Enes? Burks? Hay? Burke?

I would appreciate it if Mr. Hayward would tone it down a couple of notches and just realize that this next season is just for pretend and fun. Stop trying to make this a real NBA team....lets just have fun.
