Hayward is gone

Hayward has been inconsistent, and un-clutch this year, but where exactly are we gonna find our 'Batman'?

We dont need a Batman. We more like The Avengers. Like, even though Captain America is pretty great, he can't take down Ultron without the team. He needs Hulk (Favors), Hood (the dude who shoots the arrows), Hill (the black guy who has the suit and is like a bird or something), and Burks (Black Panther) to all be healthy and in the fight to win.

Yeah what I mean is even if Hayward isn't our 'Batman' it's still better to have him and to not have him.

There isn't anybody else better available in trade/FA is what I'm saying.

A bird in hand is better than 2 in the bush.

Yeah, I don't think he's going to find a better team. I think he's just going to change it up for the sake of change.

We Barely lost to the fully healthy playing at peak performance Raptors that are the 4th team in the NBA while we were very very short handed and put up a good fight. Honestly if Lowry doesnt get crazy hot and start hitting every shot even well contested fade always we probably still win that game. I believe we are better than that Raptors when fully healthy or even if we get everyone back except Burks. Our core unit is still very young and has plenty of upside. Why would Hayward leave a team that could be the 3rd or 4th best team that can give him the best contract, has a coach and staff that he seems to like, and has teammates that he seems to be good friends with?

What teams are going to be better next year with room to spend on him? Do GS, Cavs, Clips or Spurs have room for him? I dont think there is a team beyond that that is definitely better than a healthy Jazz, maybe Raptors but I dont think so.

If Jazz cant get healthy and rolling before the playoffs and we have a major injury that will go into next year maybe that changes things but right now we are just nicked up and nothing serious. More likely Jazz are going to get into the playoffs and hopefully win in the first round at least. If he gets a taste of success in the playoffs he is not leaving.

Also based on the Jazz track record if they sense they are going to lose him he will be traded this year.

Also we are still undefeated with both Hayward and Hill. We are 10-2 in games that we are only missing 1 starter. Very few teams in the NBA would have the type of success we have had with the amount of time multiple starters are missing from games. It sucks and it is wearing on me as a fan and I am sure it is wearing on the players and they are frustrated. I am sure the players see the big picture. I am sure they are excited to get a full team back and start rolling. This team has worked it *** off this year and have been incredible in fighting through all of this. But again none of the injuries are going to be long term. The most concerning one to me is still Favors but he seems to be getting back to himself slowly and surely.

One could argue BOS has an easier path to the Conference Finals than the Jazz though.

Also LeBron is ageing, and once he's gone, who is there in the East?

LeBron is aging but will GS be able to afford their team once the Curry mega contract comes?

You mean in terms of making the Cap work? Or can they afford the Luxury tax?

Cap should still work as they're trying to retain their own players not signing someone new.

Luxury tax they can pay, they've got sold out season tickets for the next 10 years & they're building a new stadium out of their own pocket. They can afford it.

When is the last time you've seen him smile? Like a real smile. The pressure has got to be intense. I think going to another team with a #1 scorer will make him happier. And as a basketball player I can't imagine SLC being high on the list as a place to live. Someone who enjoys skiing, biking, etc. loves it here but a hoops star would probably take almost any other city. Although factoring in kids and a low-key place to be famous Utah is pretty damn good. Again though, I bet he wants a change.

Are SAS and LAC aging? Can GSW keep all the guys together?

I like the implication that Hayward is the kind of competitor who can't wait to give up the keys to a NBA team. LOL. Hayward is lucky to have been in the position he's been in; and he's luckier to get to keep that spot as the team jumps into the top tier of the West. The only thing preventing that from happening is health. Every other variable looks like it's being managed well. Ainge is jealous.

We will see. The LT goes up crazy amounts for repeat offenders and for teams who go way over threshold.

Great post Ron. That's the Merry Christmas post.

I've always thought that Hayward only stays if he gets ridiculous money. Even then, he still might leave anyway. His two buddies, Favors and Hill have been MIA all year. Unless we miraculously heal for a long stretch of successful wins against good teams (not just scrub), he is going to leave.

We are a hamster wheel of mediocrity and injuries. Its been that way since we lost our 2 iron men Stock and Malone.

I don't think you meant to like this post. It's against the OP.

Hayward is not going to leave bigger raises and a guaranteed 5th year on the table to play second fiddle on a team that might not work out. The Jazz have a better chance at signing an impactful free agent than they do of losing Hayward. Hayward will stay with the Jazz for the money, and the 5% chance that they win a title while he is here, because no team he is going to has a markedly better chance at winning a title.
