Hayward is gone

str8line,
I don't think you meant to like this post. It's against the OP.

I agree with your post, it makes sense so I liked it. I still think he's going to go for a change. He's a very smart dude and will go for what makes him and his wife happy. I think the lure of a big change will be a compelling factor.

Hayward seems like the kind of dude who hates change.

Hayward has been inconsistent, and un-clutch this year, but where exactly are we gonna find our 'Batman'?

Hayward has been one of the most consistent players in the NBA this season. 18 of the 24 games this season he has scored more than 20. He has 3 over 30 point games and 3 under 10 point games. He is been our top assist guy all season. He has been a solid rebounder. All while getting a lot of extra attention and having to put a higher load than he can handle on. His "poor games" have been GS when 3/5 starters were missing and 4 of our top 6 were out. Rockets and Bulls game where we were missing 2 starters plus others.

He was fairly clutch last season. This season the sample size of 33 min is small but he is shooting poorly in the last 5 min with games within 5 points at 5/17 but has been perfect from the FT line only has 2 turnovers but has 2 steals to make up for it and 5 assists and also 9 rebounds.

How has Hayward been in games with all of our starters or only missing 1 starter? In games missing 1 or less starter Hayward has scored: 28, 20, 29, 20, 25, 22, 24, 24, 31, 32 and 28 for and average of 25.7 points per game. That is pretty damn consistent. In those games he shot 48% on average and that was despite not shooting great from 3 but shooting almost 10 FTs a game at about 90%.

Just because he isnt a super star shouldnt be a reason to knock on him. He is our best player and when he has a healthy team we play incredibly well. Stop expecting him to be Lebron or Durant. He is a really high quality player worth the max that is very very consistent.

Also keeping in mind he is playing great defense.

Hayward can not take over games without help with any consistency. He might every now and then when hot but that is outside of his game. That is not a reason to not want him around or call him a weak player. Yes I wish we had drafted Lebron, Durant or Curry but we didnt. He still deserves the Max and we need to keep him around. We just need to build a good team around him, which we have when healthy.

His defense is pretty much spectacular, which when factored into his offensive stats makes him a total badass. And his clutch stats reflect that when we have 2nd stringers in at the end of the game defenses can key on him even more than usual.

When is the last time you've seen him smile? Like a real smile. The pressure has got to be intense. I think going to another team with a #1 scorer will make him happier. And as a basketball player I can't imagine SLC being high on the list as a place to live. Someone who enjoys skiing, biking, etc. loves it here but a hoops star would probably take almost any other city. Although factoring in kids and a low-key place to be famous Utah is pretty damn good. Again though, I bet he wants a change.

Joe Johnson hasn't smiled his entire career

Joe Johnson hasn't smiled his entire career

He takes chill to a whole new level. At last night's game they had a piece during a timeout on the screen and Joe talked about when he was a kid and getting an in-the-ground basketball standard. He said it was the only gift he really remembered. He came across as so grounded. He must be one of the most unassuming dudes to ever make over $200 million.

I think Hayward stays if Hill stays; and I think Hill stays if Hayward stays. In other words, they've got the Millers right where they want them. Good for H-H; and good for us fans.

It was bad enough that your wife had to ruin Christmas for all of us, but now this?

Hayward already has enough money for a lifetime and generations of his family. Money will not be his driver.

He wants to have deep runs in the playoffs with a chance to win it all

He will go to th East.

Deal with it

You guys act like this guy will pass up 36 mil plus because he made some money before. This contract will double his career earnings. This guy won't pass up our money for a chance to play a few more playoff games. We have a great thing going here. We are better than Boston or whatever other team he'd like to go to... everyone should chill.

Dude has made 57 M in his career... figure taxes and agent fees is roughly half that... he's made some dough on endorsements but I've seen guys blow through less than that it's not generational money. He's going to bypass the 35+ M... cuz he's already stacked up too much dough? You're wrong.

Of this I'm sure, I have no idea if Hayward will stay or go. Approximately 50% of the people on this forum will be correct, but only because of the law of averages. It seems to be an even split of opinions. I hope Hayward stays, but if the pressure of being the #1 guy takes the fun out of it I say more power to him moving on. My gut feeling is he stays for the money and long term contract. If he is like me there is never enough money and the prestige of a big contract lends validity to his talent and ability.

I've always thought that Hayward only stays if he gets ridiculous money. Even then, he still might leave anyway. His two buddies, Favors and Hill have been MIA all year. Unless we miraculously heal for a long stretch of successful wins against good teams (not just scrub), he is going to leave.

We are a hamster wheel of mediocrity and injuries. Its been that way since we lost our 2 iron men Stock and Malone.

You and your ilk are such Debbie Downers ... moronic to not understand the trajectory of this team. We're gonna be healthy in another month or two and killing it. I can't see Hayward wanting to leave the situation he's in. Unless he really wants to ride someone's coattails. I'm not worried one little bit, i'm sitting back and preparing to enjoy the ride for the next 4-5 years

I hope you're right, but with recent history of injuries odds are stacked against them.

Hayward isn't going anywhere. The team is one of the best when healthy and all he cares is winning. No other team has a Gobert anchoring the defense.

Jazz has been unlucky with injuries, but it won't last forever. Hayward knows that too, he's not an idiot.

The team is one of the best when healthy? Is that strictly in reference to this season's team or does it also apply to any recent of the Jazz? Cuz it's either untrue because it is impossible to determine how good this season's team is when healthy cuz it hasn't been and so you are just making an assumption, or, you are either dumbfounded at the end of every regular season since 2012 when one of the nbas best teams doesn't make the playoffs.

Haywards gonna go somewhere with a very legitimate chance at winning a title. Not somewhere where the entire organization can delude their fans into thinking they've got a championship contender with an average team
