Hayward Media Introduction

So one has been exaggerated and thanks for clarifying two. Beyond that, **** you. I hate this pick.

Though admittedly I'm warming up. If he's deceptively quicker than I think, he does have very good moves/ball handling (I always look for that in guys) as well as great body control in the air to finish.

Hey would you have rather had hayward or Monroe?

There is a really nice block that Hayward had in a game where he leaned back as he blocked it so he didn't get called for a body foul. I was pretty impressed by it. Most players don't do that.

Are you talking about the end of the Michigan State game rich? I thought that was as good a defensive post play as I have seen. He did foul him a little but overall great play

Yeah Ben. After looking at it again, he might have just been out of position to block it the way he wanted, but the body control was very impressive regardless.

I can agree that I think George will be a bitch and a bust.

Soooo many things to address here:

-1 DWill is said to have liked the pick and your source is........the people that made the pick? Not an ounce of conflict of interest there. I wonder what his parents think of it, Mr. and Mrs. Hayward are my "go to" guys when it comes to anything and everything NBA darft related. If they like the pick, I'm sold.

-2 If KOC really said GH is better than/was better than/was best player at the end of a game than Wesley Johnson (stop the semantics, for Christ sakes) then he's a poor evaluator of talent (gasp).

-3 CJ Miles is a great player? If I was you I'd chew off my fingers right now so I could never type an opinion on a messageboard of any variety ever again.

-4 Honz, I'm actually not devastated by the Hayward pick but we are far from seeing eye to eye. I'd love to know your opinion on his ceiling (not interior design standpoint). Career averages, etc.

-5 That said, I see him as being a very solid piece on the Jazz for a long time. I project he'll be a career 12pts 6 boards 2 asst guy that will also bring some intangibles to the table.

-6 regarding #5, you can see why I, and others, aren't over the proverbial moon with the projections for our second real lottery pick in god knows (or google) how long. I'm not like you it sounds like in the regard that I'd rather swing big (take a shot on a kid with a ridiculous ceiling) and possibly strike out in the process rather than get a guy that even we can get in free agency every few years. Hayward will be better than a lot of the comparisons he's getting to a lot of current white NBA'ers now but he wont be a guy that couldn't be replaced by one of roughly 20-30 other guys with similar skill sets in the NBA. Again, I'd rather swing for a kid that could turn into a "one in 4-5 at his position guy" and possibly strike out with a rare lottery pick.

The above represents my opinion...... quote me on it.

By the way, I was thinking today of who Hayward could best max out as and Rip came to mind. I know he's taller and he's a 3, and not a 2, but that type of guy with average athleticism, with solid overall skills, who's somewhat crafty, and plays strong team defense felt about right to me.

He has Dirk Nowitzki written all over him in 3 to 4 seasons.

Seriously bro, shut the **** up. Hayward may be white, but he is extremely skilled, a solid athlete, and has quite a bit of upside left. Will he ever be Kobe? No, but he has a chance to be a very good player in this league.

you're an idiot. and im drunk. but still i know youre an idiot. haywad is aws.

Why because we have a different opinion then you.

Nope, this board has always been an ignorant mob. Basically, there are a few key philistines and a crowd of enablers.

Sure, I wasn't terribly pleased with the drafting of Hayward but I can also see that there is a strong possibility that he was the best player available and that none of the bigs remaining were particularly inspiring. Thing is, the front office can't win in the ignorant eyes of this message board.

If the front office had passed over Hayward and he turned out to be a great player the same characters here would be condemning them for it for years for passing over such a can't miss prospect.

Ignorance is bliss. There can be ignorance also when all some fans do is whine because we do not support every decision the organization makes. Yes there are some ignorant fans who scream not another white slow guy but there many fans that have legitimate concerns about the direction of the team and how they run the franchise. Sorry but I've been a fan for 33 years and I am tired of waiting for this organization to step out of their comfort zone and make a bold perhaps game-changing decision. As whether Haywood will or will not be a bust, no one knows but I am sure either way there will be some fans eating crow. Personally I hope the kid does well now that he is on the team but I feel some of the concerns about him are legitimate and should be allowed to be discussed without Jazz homers crying foul.

honz, don't let the talk get to you. Hayward is a very good player, Jazz made the right choice. The answer to the Jazz's problems was not available when they chose. Kosta and Fess being the only bigs is a little scary, but I believe the Jazz have something in the works that will bring in a good big man. Utah still has two great players in DWill and Miles, four very good players in Millsap, Mathews, Drei, Okur, and Hayward will fit in great, much more versatile than Korver, although not a lights out three shooter.

Sorry but Miles is not a great player.

Good post. I don't have a problem with legitimate concerns about Hayward, I think we all have them. I don't have a problem with concerns about the franchise being stuck in its comfort zone, that's understandable.

What I have a problem with is the idiotic and shameful raging on here about Haywards race, appearance, clothes and religion. People don't want to talk about basketball, they just want to put their arses to the keyboard and spill out a bunch of fetid nonsense no matter how terrible it makes this community or the fan base look.

Apparently, O'Connor hasn't even learned the most fundamental rule of the NBA darft: If you're gunna err, err big. Take size over skill; take Bowie over Jordan, take Marvin Williams over Deron Williams. Is it the fans' fault that they happen to know more than O'Connor and everyone else in the Jazz organization? I don't think so! Homey don't play dat.

Drunk typing on Jazzfanz at 1:30a.m. = Striking out with the ladies

Good job Hack.

Incorrect. It was a first date and it went well. That said, Im in a bit of a conundrum as I have a second date with another girl this coming Thursday. I like them both. They are both attractive and both intelligent. How do I choose?

Ask them both who the Jazz took with the 9th pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and choose whoever comes closest to the correct answer.
