Signs Favors to a 4 year contract, thinks Gobert/Kanter is frontcourt of future. Makes sense.

Read my last post for my own stance.

But to your point, the new CBA makes sign and trades next to impossible. Only way to get value from your players is by signing them first.

I think favors stays. But if anyone were to go, it would be him, since he is the only one who would fetch his value.

Feb 18th

4:35 DL on Derrick, "the role we envision is the role that he is playing now..."

Feb 21st, 4:53
DL on Rudy, "Rudy's played some minutes of late because of Derrick's injury, and you know are defensive challenges. He's had to work and fight for that opportunity, and guess what? Our defense is better when Rudy's on the court. We expect that to go forward as well. "

Jan 3rd 2014. 13:28 on Enes
"Again, he had a very serious shoulder injury, and was rehabbing all summer instead of working... He's 21, he's 6'11", he can shoot. ... We just got to let him find himself"

Jan 3rd 2014 14:09 on Derrick
"Frankly, he needs to get better. We paud him to be a high level defender, a rebounder, a finisher, and someone who is developing an offensive game.

16:20
"I think in due time that Enes with his touch, and his range, if he doesn't shoot the 3 eventually, can certainly shoot the long 2. He shot 44 % last year on long 2's."

18:02
"I think some of the strategy that Ty has used here recently of keeping Derrick closer to the paint, is something that the Indiana Pacers have done, and is something that we've looked at and talked about a while, and think it would be a strength for Rudy as well going forward."

December 27th 2013
7:02 on Enes
"I know there is a little angst publicly where Enes is at. ... You have to remember a couple of things with Enes Kanter. He lost a couple of seasons years past before he joined the Jazz organization because of inelgibility. This past offseason he was rehabbing his shoulder instead of just playing basketball like our other players; so he really lost a good 6 months because he had to focus on the shoulder. Really, the first day he had contact was our last day or two of open gym.and the team's in flux. He's with a bunch of other young players."

8:36 on Enes
"He's still a 21 yr old player. He and Trey would be juniors this year. ... A couple things, he's 6'11", he's got great hands. He's a very motivated young big. He plays the game because he enjoys the competition, he really enjoys the work, and usually when you add those characteristics up something good's going to happen. So, we're going to be really patient with Enes, and we're really glad he's a part of the organization . ... I think Kevin O' Connor made a really good pick with that pick.

Feb 18th. 1:22 DL responds to a question about Enes' defense.
"You know he needs to improve, but Enes IS NOT the only player. We have to improve collectively as a group. That's on me. We have to continue to add defensive minded players, players that value that, that can compement some of our young offensive players, if you will."

Let me be clear, I don't think, nor am I saying Favors will be gone before next season. What I am saying is that Kanter will be staying, and that ultimately DL sees Rudy as fulfilling Derrick's role, which MAY make Derrick expendable at some point when we are trying to acquire pieces for our championship run. Derrick is much more of a known commodity (played almost twice as many NBA minutes than Kanter and is a year older), and is already inked to a very appealing contract.

My gut and wish is that both will stay. For the past month, Kanter and Favors has been the Jazz' best 2 man lineup, which probably reinspires the passion for the Kanter-Favors duo that FO once had.

You are ridiculous and naive. Thats all.

The dude knows more than you. Just deal with it and shut the **** up. This guy is a respectable poster. Show some of it will ya? He obviously takes time to post his **** that is backed up with concrete other ****.

Oh did I ruffle you there fella? When Kanter is gone this board will gain at least 100 points on the IQ meter. Respectable to you= Kanter jock rider.

^^ what an ******* ^^

~ hey I wrote this one for myself but you replied earlier.

lol I never thought of you to take it seriously even though I was serious.

Babe you just need to quit ****ting all over obviously good posts just because you cannot top it. It ain't you. It's OK that you want Kanter gone. Me too. If Ty is still here. I want the better for the kid. But we all should respect the hardwork here instead of going ridiculous troll diarrhea on'em.

Oh **** no!

I respect the most extreme opposite in here if he's intimate about his idea(l)s. This most defi-****ing-nitely is not me braw. It ain't me.

Top what? A misguided interpretation of an interview? Raise of hands...who else believes that the quotes SF posted indicate the Jazz want to trade Favors because our future front court is Kanter and Gobert? Bueller.....Bueller.....Bueller....Bueller.

Yeah, calling Gobert the future went a little bit too far in there alright.

I also think Favors is a keeper. Both for me and for the FO apparantly. But new dude on the top, a possible new coach, a fresh new star franchise player candidate. Only God knows what will happen to the Jazz.

Reading comprehension. That is not what I said.

Seriously, you always struggle with any post that isn't spelled out for you.

Hayward will stay because we can't trade him for his value. A sign and trade wouldn't net his full value, and no team would have incentive to do so. Conversely, we have the money to max Hayward for the next 4 years if we wanted to and not have it affect the ability to sign whoever we draft this year. Other teams know this, and will probably see a bidding war as futile. Why would they want to tie up their cap space when they could be recruiting more attainable free agents? Signing Hayward still leaves us with cap space. Letting players walk for cap space, like in the cases of Al and Paul, was a one time thing, and not a message the FO is wanting to send to the league. Forming a habit of letting all of our best players walk at contract time would make us obsolete and non factors in trade talks. Why would any team ever trade with us again if they believed they could just get our players in free agency!?

I agree. Even IF Hayward gets an offer for big money, it makes sense to match. Why? Because the Jazz have ZERO money concerns for the next four years. They can still pay Burks and Kanter, have Hayward and Favors for major money AND bring in a FA or two without exceeding the luxury tax threshold. To simply let Hayward "walk" makes no sense unless they acquired a free agent of equal value. I get that people are down on Hayward; he's coming off the worst season of his career. But he still averaged 16/5/5 and got to the line regularly. Just improve his shooting percentages to his career averages (easily doable) and all of a sudden he's close to a 20/5/5 player.

In addition, this young team, that should have been running up and down the court, was playing half-court offense most of the time. It's no wonder Hayward sounded frustrated. And that is CLEARLY on Ty. New coach, better offensive system, reign in Gordon a bit on his ball-handling and driving to the hoop. Then you have a player that is a huge trade asset if that time comes. There is simply no reason to just let him walk. Match whatever 4-yr deal he gets; that contract is up before the Jazz are faced with major $ constraints and have to start choosing between players.

You said:
Kanter stays because he is trending upward in a big way, but still doesn't have a trade value that reflects actual value/potential. The best two man lineup for the past month has ironically been Kanter and Favors. Since March 1st, Kanter has averaged something like 14 pts and 10.5 REBs in less than 30 mins. I am pretty sure Jazz are still high on him. Dennis Lindsey basically said he sees Kanter and Gobert as the front court of the future in his interviews earlier this year on 1280.

Thats right, you said "basically". My bad.

All set aside;

I would love to see all of these drafted players stay in Utah as they are assisted with the great addition of '14 draft. What a roster that would be. All drafted.

Faves, Kant, Gordie, Trey, Burks, Jabari (or whoever).

Wow.

Just wow.

~ And please don't say stuff like Favors is drafted by the Nets or anything.

^^^
Jazz would have 6 lottery picks on their team - 7 if Williams is re-signed. Unfortunately, none of those has turned into a "franchise" player. This will be the first draft since we took Deron that the Jazz had a great pick in a great draft.

Sexual Favors has just owned Vermin (and the like-minded punk called thee jazz fan) and Verm the Germ is still blabbering.
what a loser dude has become!
now wrestling with semantics Verm?
you cannot argue against S.F. Vermin, he is just 2 good 4 u. (you understand this English, i hope)

If Utah gets Parker or Wiggins, the Jazz will let Hayward walk if he gets a Max deal. Anything under $12m per year, they re-sign him.
