Hayward's shot

..puzzles me. He shot 45% on 3-pointers in his freshman year, then nosedived to 29% in his sophomore season. In the NBA Gordon had a record-setting rookie season at 47%, then 20% in December-January, and 43% last month.

The same with his free throws: he was at 82-83% in college, dropped to the 71-73% level for the last season and almost all of the 2011/2012...but since 2/12 shot 95% (53 of 56)!

Why is he doing it? Is he a good shooter or not? Is he going to continue to seesaw like that in the future?

FT's are a function of not getting to the line consitenly his freshman year. I can't explain the 3's.

I am sure Hayward's inconsistency drives the front office insane. It makes it very hard to build the team. Do they need to try to add to the team a good 3-point shooter as a starter at 1 or 3, or, assuming the Jazz already have a 3-pont threat in Hayward, they can look at adding a PG like Rondo or Marshall?

In today's game, you can and should always make room for a 3-pnt shooter. If Hay was the best evar, then you'd still add another.

He'll get it worked out. I think he'll settle in around 37% or so.

A 180 player in the NBA is the gold standard - 50% FG 40% 3 pt 90% FT -- Gordon Hayward in March - is 188 - 50% - 43% - 95% (Fixed version)

Nice numbers

If you have to deal with inconsistency, it's always better to have a player getting hot late in the season than fading away. We are still to see how this translates to post season though.

Good #s from Gordon but I hope to see dagger 3s soon. It would have been nice if he hit a couple of those last night.
