headband ban stands

Stupid. I don't get the philosophy about banning headbands. It really makes no sense to me.

First of all, "He used to wear a headband" is funny.

Second of all, I think Ty knows the importance of not trampling over Jerry's legacy. Change the offensive and defensive schemes, of course. But there is no need to change the culture right away (if at all). He can decide to loosen that one at a later time, but for now the 'no headband' rule is actually a good thing. It says, "We're still the Jazz, and you're with us or you're gone." It's kinda stupid, really, but a good thing under the current situation.

While I sort of roll my eyes at that philosophy, I must admit it I at least get the rationale. Well done.

I like it. The players that get most upset about the rule are the ones who need it the most. IMO it's not so much about headbands, but about doing what your told even if you think it's stupid. Trust and respect your elders.

Always liked this.... Now just take the names off the jerseys as well ala Penn State. TEAM :)
can't be serious... Can you?
And this headband thing has always been a load of b.s. Is it some form of gang affiliation? We take headbands off players that wear them extinsevly and they don't play the same. Look at Devin Brown.

While they're at it, they should make them all shave their heads and stand in formation. When talking to the coach, they should have to answer "SIR, YES SIR!", or do a hundred pushups.

The last thing we want is individual thought. Better to crush their spirit right from the beginning, and make sure they never forget that they're nothing but maggots, until coach says otherwise.

Nah, you don't say. Brilliant analysis there. But the rationale behind allowing wristbands and not allowing headbands totally lacks any sort of logical consistency.

You guys do realize that the Jazz are not the only team that don't allow headbands, right? The Bulls don't allow it either. I know there are a few other teams that have the same rules.

Sloan did it because it was a uniform issue. If all the players wanted to wear a headband, they would have been allowed. Sloan is old school to the point where he actually understands the meaning of the word uniform, one form. Same thing happened in I believe Deron Williams' second year. He wanted to wear black shoes on the road. Sloan wouldn't allow it unless all players wore them, and Williams convinced his teammates to make the change, so they did.

I imagine Sloan felt wristbands weren't obtrusive or conspicuous enough to take issue with. That, or it was Karl Malone.

Ok, so it it's a standard "being the same" issue I wonder why Korver was allowed to wear the really high socks...they were certainly not "one form" compared to the others on the team, and they were definitely conspicuous.

Tall socks are not necessary or helpful equipment to play basketball. Wrist and headbands are very helpful. BAN THEM BECAUSE OF FASHION, I'M INCONTINENT.
