What's new

Hibbert, Lou, Bass asked if they talked to Kobe.....

Wow, just wow.

How do we each interpret that?

I see two possibilities. One is that they didn't hear from him. But I doubt that's it. There wouldn't have been that much tension and awkwardness had they simply not heard from him. My second guess as to what went down is that Kobe had already left an (negative) impression on them, possibly by talking down to them and demanding they be in shape, or possibly by making sure they knew that LA was still his team. Something like that. I expect fireworks all season.

Probably time to make my yearly Kobe Bryant MVP topic here soon. He's pissed and ready to take the league by storm.

Man, that franchise has fallen on rough times. I never dreamed the wheels could have come off the way they have. This season has the makings of a nightmare in Lakerland.

Do y'all think Hayward has talked to Raul Neto and Pleiss?

I think it's fairly normal for guys to not talk to new signings in the off-season until they are actually in the gym with them.

So do I. But their body language and silence said a lot more than, "Nah, he didn't call us."

This. I bet if neto and pleiss were asked if Hayward had talked to them yet they would simply be like nope not yet, we look forward to playing with him though....... Not straight silent awkwardness

I watched the entire press conference. All three guys were well spoken and there was never hesitation in answering any question. They even aluded to Kobe in several of their answers. Then a reporter lobs this apparent softball and suddenly they transform into a trio of deer in the headlights. From the POV of this particular Laker hater it was an unexpected moment of absolute beauty.
