What's new

Hill is probably going to the Jazz, if they want him.

I am shocked that some of you are actually considering giving Hill $20 and Ingles $15. Add in Hayward at over $30. $65 million for those three. 2/3 of our entire cap on 3 guys when only one of them is a great player on the right side of 30 when the season starts. And you want to dump Favors to make sure we avoid the luxury.

I think we'd be better with Teodosic, Hayward and Favors than Hill, Ingles, and Hayward. And cheaper so we can actually afford to keep Hood, Favors, Exum, etc.

Hayward is holding us hostage.

I wouldn't pay Ingles more than $10M/yr (preferably 8) and in regards to Hill, if the difference between $15M/yr and $20Mil/yr is losing Hayward then you pony up for the extra $5Mil/yr.

I understand that. I guess. I just feel like 4 years and $20 million a year on Hill is going to restrict us elsewhere when it's all said and done. If I knew without a doubt the salary cap would keep increasing, I would be okay with it. But the salary cap falling instead of increasing this year has me worried. GS and these super teams are not good for the sport. If Houston, GS and Cleveland sweep through the playoffs, the revenue will go down again and the cap will stay stagnant. So as Gobert, Hayward and other salaries increase, that $20 million for an aging role player/starter will look worse and worse and worse.

Still, I understand the logic behind Hill = Hayward.

You've got that wrong. The salary cap increased about 5%. It just didn't increase as much as people thought it would, that's all. People thought it would increase by about 7% and it only did 5%.

Yep. I fail to see the pickle.

Andy Larsen just retweeted two tweets by some guy named Ben Rohrbach:

"Couple notes from someone who would know: George Hill wants to stay in Utah. Spurs are his second choice, and Minnesota is lurking."

"Regardless, "bet against Gordon staying in Utah," the source said."

Hill wouldn't want to stay if Gordon isn't there anyway.

Those percentages can't be right. The cap next year is going to be 9 million less than teams anticipated a year ago. You must be thinking of the latest report were it came down 2 million, but before that it dropped from like 108 down to 101.

I believe that 108 number was considered to be conservative as well, as some were expecting it to be up around 115.

What a kick in the nuts it would be if Utah signed Hill and Hayward still left.

According to my research is was about $94 million last year and expected to be $101 this year, then dropped to $99 for the final number. Maybe there was another drop in expectations prior to the $101 estimate, I'm not sure about that. But in any event, the up 5% from last year is accurate.
