Steven Seagal. That's what happened there.

I know I'm about 6-8yrs older then you Archie so maybe not but I'm guessing your wife brought up the name Tristan (or however it's spelled) not sure why but both my wives (at the time) for each of my boys suggested that name.

Also I'm not sure this really works or if your fan of the name but I know your brother was a comedian and 2 of IMO the better comedians today are Lewis Black and Louis C.K. so two different ways of spelling the same first name.

Log, kinda funny my friends dad called me Gary growing up (still does actually) cause I looked like him growing up, well that and I did act a bit nerdy. Oh and I loved that show.

I've never heard CK's name pronounced "Lew-iss", always "Lew-E"... I know his show is entitled "Louie," but I'm pretty sure his common first name is pronounced the same way(french pronunciation), but not in the tense of Lewis.

Mike -

Good luck on the job hunt. Maybe you should have thought it through before pursuing the degree in Women's Studies.

Congrats on making a boy. Dave will be jealous.

Hmmm, just had a long discussion with the students about making sure there is a demand for your career.

Have you looked into Armed Services, Arch? I don't mean that to be degrading, but I think where a lot of graduates are struggling is they can't even open the door into whatever field they go into... and Army/Air Force/Navy/etc. probably have a lot of similar jobs to what you'd be looking to go into anyway... your background sounds like you could get your foot in the door doing recruiting aids, or something of that nature.

Or you could relive the movie Stripes... your choice.

Good luck. And actually, to put things in perspective, you have only been to the 2nd or 3rd circle of hell. The 9th circle is the 30th+ job interview after 18 months of looking, where the people interviewing you look like they are 12 because you are interviewing 2 levels below your last job, and one guy on the panel is suprised that you started working at a level higher than his before he graduated from college, and then still not getting the job. My hopes and prayers you never reach that level.

Archie, if the job is selling security systems door to door don't do it.

Ya, because sitting on your *** at home, collecting unemployment and/or Reservation monies is such a better option. Gods damn it, this is what is wrong with this country today. Quit being so damn proud and get your *** out there and get a mother ****ing job, you lazy pieces of ****. People who bitch about not being able to find a job make me want to wretch. There are plenty of jobs available that will hire you tomorrow, but you're too damn lazy and proud to go out and do them.

I already said this on page one or two. No responses though. Evidently our way of thinking isn't of popular belief.

Sorry we cant all be insurance salesman.

More people lose money when they do door to door then make money. Not to mention they don't give you any health benefits which him having a baby is must. Also Archie is a recent college graduate. Maybe he has school loans where a job making less than 30,000 or something wont cut it.

Sure lots of companies will hire him for peanuts. But even if he worked there he would still qualify for welfare.

Let's see, while I was unemployed looking for a job I still had to provide for a family of 6. I did not want my relatives to have to carry that burden. My job search was extensive, I spent minimum 7-9 hours per day, 5-6 days per week, researching companies, making phone calls, sending resumes, pounding the pavement, canvassing friends and old colleagues (I made it my "full-time job" and kept a fairly detailed log). I did the math and all the jobs I had available to me at that time I would have to work at least 8 hours per day to max out anything much beyond what unemployment paid.

So I should take a min wage job and work 8-10 hours per day just to get off unemployment, and make marginally more than unemployment is paying so I still cannot provide for my family, and ALSO I can't look for a job as much as I did before, so my time employed at this level is lengthened by who knows how long?

Great plan.

I did take a job with the Census from Dec 09 to Jul 10, because that paid more than twice what I was making from unemployment, but during that time my job search efforts had to be cut drastically since it was a salaried position and we were working 10-12 hour days. I figure I lost about 3 months of job search time, all told, while I worked there (on the per hour basis I was logging). Maybe I could have had a better job months earlier than I did had I not worked there. But I felt I needed to do what I could to ease the burden on my family and other relatives.

You obviously have never been in that boat before. When you talk out of your *** it is amazing how far down your throat you can stick your foot.
