Homeless/begger situation where you are?

I was getting off 215 freeway at redwood road the other day and gave some dude a dollar while driving past him at about 15 miles per hour..... it was a flawless highspeed transfer similar to a 400 meter relay race in the Olympics. I was so proud.

Awesome!!

I always give them money, it just makes me feel better. If they waste it who gives a ****, at least I tried.

That's kinda how I feel too

One time I had just finished eating at dennys downtown after partying at a bar all night and I was walking down the sidewalk with a half a bottle of souther comfort and there was a bum chillin on the ground so I gave him the rest of the bottle.
He was quite appreciative.

Ha ha, give the man what he wants. Not ****ing around I like that.

A bunch of heartless ******** on this board....

We should hand cash to strangers standing on a street corner in order to not be ********? I really hope you're joking.

Just curious. It's noticeably worse here than just 2 or 3 years ago. They all over the place now. I was talking to somebody that lives in San Diego too today and he told me that the police crack down pretty hard there because they had massive encampments forming downtown that they couldn't control, so now a bunch of white and black Americans(probably Hispanic-Americans too, but they blend in better in Mexico obviously) hop the border and are roaching it on the streets of Tijuana; so San Diego looks about same the same homeless wise but if you included all of those border hoppers it would be 2 or 3 times as bad. Is this just getting worse all over now?

It's getting worse in San Diego too. Some of them camp out in the walmart parking lots, but they're not the snowbirds in their campers anymore.

I said this in the last bum thread.

The bums in SLC who are really crazy don't have the mental wherewithal to stand on a corner for hours. They also rarely ask for money. They have a warm place to sleep and good food to eat but many of them choose to live on the streets instead.

One group of the people who bum money do it as a profession. The same ones have been around for 10+ years with the same old story they've tweaked to perfection. I've seen them and heard these same stories for years now.

Then there are the disabled ones who can't legally work because they're on social assistance. There's the 330 lb electric chair lady who lives in government paid housing, has food stamps in excess for her mouth and all five dogs, has every bill taken care of for her, but still needs one dollar for a loaf of bread at the Hostess building across the street.

We have more than enough lifelines in this country that none of these need to bum for subsistence. None. But here's my take on the 3 anyway. I can feel good giving the crazies money even though they probably have a $1000 wad in their pockets as "Honest Abe" flashed to me after I hassled him for lying about smoking. They're crazy so what the hell (even though I never give the ones asking a dime).

The disabled, that's kind of a crappy life. You're given just enough to survive and are penalized if you do the little work you can. A lot of them want to work but can't.

The professionals and roaming bands of 20ish kids. **** em. Run em out of town. Put em on a train to Alcatraz.

Every time I visit South Africa, pretty much at every place your car can stop, stop light, off ramp, parking lots you'll run into Holmes kids and adults!!!

So my wife and I always buy bags of fruit when we go to the grocery store and hand out apples, bananas, mangos and Leechies to those begging!!!

I'm sure you readily give away your money to everyone who asks for it?

Sometimes I give money, sometimes I give food or something. If I can give, I try to give something whether they are pro's, or legit in need. I figure for myself it's not my place to judge who "really" needs it or who deserves it. If I give when I can, I also hope God will do the same for me even if I don't totally deserve it. I know some of the people I give to don't really need it.. but like Duck said, who knows, you might see the dude sleeping in a ditch when you thought they were scamming you.

I love Zulu's giving of fruit in S. Africa. Even here I will give food of some sort instead of cash or diamonds.

If I beg will you give me diamonds?

I guarantee "Black Santa" sleeps in his dirt patch in the grass that now grows moss because he chooses to. That one doesn't beg and actually loathes others giving him anything. He doesn't need to beg either because he is taken care of by society, but he chooses to live on the streets. This is the same story with 99.74xx% of humanity inside Utahs bubble.

I get the hippy mentality with karma and not judging and all, but that's not for me.
