Hood traded to Cleveland for Crowder; Johnson to Sacramento

Just saw that we've got 2 MORE YEARS of Jae Crowder AFTER this year at $7.3m and $7.8m. That is a CHEAP contract in this day and age.

Wow. A wing who could guard 1 through to 4, you can throw him to lock down the likes of Paul George, Westbrook, Klay, Durant, LeBron, etc. He can play within the system and can knock down corner 3's.

Damn, that is a GREAT get for the Jazz.

It's pretty unanimous around the League and everyone who follows it that the Pelicans overpaid by giving up their 1st round pick for Mirotic.. and you're GIVING them HOOD as well?

Where Mirotic is ranked 43rd in the NBA in PER, absolutely. He would excel under Snyder's system, much more than Jae Crowder! You think Crowder is more of an upgrade than Mirotic? Even if we gave up a 1st round, our 1st round is that high, and we really don't have a solid running record with drafting 1st round pics over the last decade with the obvious few exceptions.

The last decade isn't really relevant. We should only be looking at DL's drafting record.

Trey Burke
Rudy Gobert
Rodney Hood
Trey Lyles
Donovan Mitchell

That's 3 out of 5 and Lyles could still end up being a decent pick, even though I'd call it a fail for passing on Booker when this team desperately needed shooting and the best shooter in that draft fell right in our laps, only to be passed on.

Still, that's 3 excellent picks out of 5 for DL, and twice he got a top 2 player in the draft with picks some people don't value much. Mitchell may very well end up thee best player in his draft class, which is saying something as it's one of the best in years.

Every team in the league would be happy with that kind of draft record. It's really only unrealistic fans who expect a home run with every pick who would question DL's ability to draft well.

I would probably give DL a pass on Trey Burke...It was Ty Corbin that really wanted him. I think the organization wanted to show their support to Corbin by letting him have the player he wanted in the draft. Unfortunately, Corbin was not only bad at coaching, he also wasn't good at judging talent.

You forgot Dante Exum.... which is funny as hell coming from you.

You're really just looking at the contract details for Crowder? After all the talk that he's generated on JFC over the years/months.....

Another great night for Hood. 3-9 for 6 points in 26 minutes of play. Man, I miss him

Was just going to comment on that. And just as important as the stats is the attitude Crowder brings. Only been a Jazz player for a few weeks and Jae is the guy who goes after Teague and then starts jawing with Thibodeau. Jazz should give him a bonus for picking up the 2 T's. Better yet, all the players should pass around a collection cup to reimburse him for what he gets fined.

There's no such thing as a "typical" Rodney Hood game...it's either a 2-12 FG, 1-7 3P, 5 pt game; OR a 12-14 FG, 4-4 3PT, 30 pt game. Feast or famine (mostly famine though) is what you'll get outta Hood.

You forgot the DNP-Gastroenterological Distress and the DNP-Have an owie that really hurts.

Hoods downfall was always his consistency (and health). Cleveland will soon find this out.
As soon as he has one of his foot or leg injuries they'll know why we moved on.

Crowder seems more consistent, and reliable. He's going to give you something every night.
Plus hes tough, and will fight for his teammates. Hood will never be a cornerstone. He's a sexy roll player.

Just for the record Crowder is shooting worse than Hood since the trade. But don't let facts get in the way of a good narrative and slamming of an ex-Jazz player. Carry on.

Jae Crowder - 37.8% FG%, 32.4 3pFG, 66.7% FT%... that consistency though...
