So, if “Plan A” doesn’t work out for the Sixers, what is the best possible option at center? The more I think about it, the more I tend to agree with the targeting of Utah soon-to-be- unrestricted free-agent Al Jefferson. Philadelphia Inquirer

Hopefully more teams will be interested in him and he moves on.

I would love it if Philly took Jefferson off our hands. I am ok with all the vets going, drafting two/three rookies and adding a few short term tough low contract vets. Play next season as a long summer camp experiment, bring in a coach out side of the organization (top flight college coach). Tell the new coach that you want to develop the kids and establish an environment of playing hard and smart. Jazz will struggle due to lack of experience/toughness of western conference. They will take a step back and obtain a high draft pick in 2014. Jazz get the leader and star they need.

Two or three years later they will be contenders with multiple shots at an NBA champion. They will win one or two and I will retire to a sunny island a happy man.

I'd be thrilled with Favors, Kanter, Carroll, Hayward, Burks and the 2 draft picks becoming the main stay of this team next year under a new coach. Let's see what that group can really do.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if the Jazz were worse after jettisoning TyrAl and just committing to The Four and a coach that the Jazz actually wanted. And I guarantee it would be a more fun ride.

I think that the Jazz will be better off or equal to this team immediately and certainly better off in the long run.

I agree. Look at what they did when Millsap and Jefferson were injured. Sure, they lost, but those games were really close. With a little coaching and some more experience closing out games, they would be at least 5 games better than they are now, and probably even better than that.

Yes, some other teams will offer Big Al money this off-season.

The question is, at what price do the Jazz become completely disinterested and at what price do they become interested?

Going with core 4 and Carrol for 30+ mins and in fresh system would result in 30 wins max. It takes one or two guys of the four to have an off day and the team will go down to anyone. There WILL be a losing season when you put these guys into starting roles regardless how they look as supporting players.
But these 30 wins are going to be fun unlike current Jazz.

I think it would be more than 30. And we will undoubtedly sign some kind of player in the 5-10 million dollar range over the off-season. If we get Otto Porter (cross fingers) we would probably be looking at nearly 50 wins and a Championship in his 3rd year.

I too think that we will have more than thirty wins if we commit to the core four. I dont know much about Otto Porter though, but from what I just read, it looks like he is a late bloomer that will hopefully develop a shot outside of ten feet from the basket. Not sure that brings a championship...

Honestly though, I am a little nervous that the Jazz will just draft a point guard because that is what they think they need. I would hate to leave a better player on the board come draft time because we needed a point guard. I am not sold on any of the pg's in the draft next year.

Not sure if serious or just trolling.

My hope is that we go with the core 4 and only win 20 games so we have the best shot at the number one pick. I want the guys to develop and play hard but lose as many games as possible... if we are going to do it... next year is the year to do it... I want a top 3 pick in next years stocked draft. Some will say that is bad as a fan but I understand that to follow the OKC model, or San Antonio we have to get our KD or TD!

Or Jabari Parker? Haha just kidding. He will probably bust like Jimmer.

We do need a superstar though. The draft is the only place we have ever gotten ours so hopefully we can get one in the next couple years

I think it will be difficult at times. Even more so with Corbin at the helm.
I'm willing to go through the growing pains next year to reach our higher goals.

Next year we may put these guys in the spotlight, and some of them may wilt. I could see any core four showing they are not what we hoped for.
I also expect one of two of them to shine. My thoughts are Kanter, and Burks.

True but the more teams that want his services will drive up the price and increase the chance that the Jazz find the limit they wont pass and Big Al moves on to a team that will.

If I had to guess, I would guess that Al is gone after this season. The front office can't be so stupid that they ignore how inept our team is as a whole when he is on the floor.

I think we are starting to get an idea of what Favors and Hayward will be. Favors will a defensive stud and lead the team on that end. He will average around 10 pts a game.

Hayward will be that guy that does alot of the little things. Not an allstar but a very solid started.

Burks has the potential to shine. The improvements to his shot and decision making this year have been fantastic. Add that to his truly elite level to get to the rim and he could be an offensive monster that rebounds pretty well for a 2.

Kanter will be solid defensively but will be more of a support to Favors. He will be an elite rebounder and have the potential to be a 20/15-20 guy.

Carroll is well Carroll. Maybe 10-12 ppg and then miles and miles of fight, heart and hustle. Fantastic supporting player. Especially when facing second units that tend to wilt under the pressure he brings.

I think you are underestimating Hayward just a little bit. I dont think he will be an all star every year, but at least someone like Luol Deng. I see him being an all star like 4-5 times in his career. He is almost that good now, and given a starting role, he will only excel.

I also think Favors can average around 15 points a game if he is utilized right, and if needed. I think he could get like 15 pts, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game. Perennial DPOY candidate!

Kanter could be a monster. It seems like every time he gets minutes, he produces. Heck, even when he doesnt get minutes he produces. He is very consistently good right now, and that is awesome. I bet if anyone on this post heavy offense is going to score more than 20 a game, it will be Kanter.

To me, Burks is the unknown. He could be a great player, but if the coaches never trust him or use him right, he could just be ok, and leave after his rookie contract. I think next year is the telling year on Burks (I guess it is for all the players, but especially Burks)

Really, all four of these guys could have a couple-three all star appearances in their career, and I would not be surprised at all.

Like you said, Carroll is Carroll. He will be the guy that fills the role of "Jazz guy" the fans love. Really hope we keep him in the core of the team. I like that he can shoot outside now as well. He is a hard worker.
