Hey guys.....

we all have our comfort zones about language.

So here's the sitch..... as I imagine it, at least......

Some parents own this site. They are attempting raise their children in accord with mother's wishes and maybe some church standards. And a lot of Utah folks do put filters on their computers and it definitely would reduce access or traffic---- visitors--- to this site. My computer would block it. Mom says. We have teenage kids.

Kids will argue very well against house rules, with whatever ammo they can find.... and they will find it in here, if it is permitted.

Personally, I think our so-called comedians play for the gutterballs they can roll. It doesn't take much effort to make the joke clean, with no gratuitous vulgarities. Yeah, they throw it out because it loosens up the crowd and breaks the wind.... but I just don't go to their shows. Mom says. well, I'm trying to be funny..... but no, I just don't enjoy that level of humor. Period.

I doubt you can find "clean" comedians' videos to post, and if you do I bet they'll seem a bit churchy or unreal. Not that they couldn't really be done, and done even better and even more comedic than the gutterballs. Just, in our time, they're a little more edgy and the risk doesn't appear to have a possible path to profit. But I think the mass culture would still richly reward a Barney Fife or a Lucille Ball. I know it would be hard to find a genuine article in that vein, but if someone like that got on the air, even our present-day pervs would get it. I mean get into it.

I just give my vote to support the moderation on this topic, and hope you guys will accept the house rules.....

I still watch Andy Griffith reruns. I wish it was still 1950ish, and I wish I was living in Mayberry....

My cousin is really funny IMO and clean enough that his own parents visit his shows. My mom goes, and she's the type who will walk out of a movie theater if they say the Lord's name in vain once. Jim Gaffigan is clean and famous. Brian Regan is popular around here. He was pretty funny live, and quick witted enough to engage audience members directly for quite a while and make people laugh off the top of his head.

I prefer clean comedy as it's much harder to pull off and thus usually much more clever.

I don't care about swearing, but since I don't find vulgarity all that funny (unless I'm playing Cards Against Humanity) I avoid threads entitled "Comedy." I do appreciate warnings for vulgar content just so I don't have to be embarrassed at work or elsewhere. So even though I wouldn't care about the posting of less than family friendly stuff, this isn't my site so the rules aren't my rules. I'm fine with whatever rules are imposed.

I agree with this 100%. I feel that too many comedians go for profanity and crudity for a quick laugh instead of being clever/witty. Not all the time, obviously, but often.
