How did you become a Jazz fan?

Malone on the cover of SI...Bigger, Stronger, Faster...or something to that effect.

I grew up in San Diego and when we moved to Utah, they stopped us at the border and told us "YOU WILL BE A JAZZ FAN". Just like the Jedi mind trick.

Watching Stockton & Malone on KSL tv in 1985 or 86. I liked Mel Turpin, Mark Eaton, Thurl Bailey and Bobby Hansen. I think Bolerjack might've called the games on ksl--I don't recall.

After the games left KSL I couldn't watch, so I listened to Hot Rod broadcasts when the signal came in. He could paint the game so well that I knew exactly what the jazz were doing on the court. I still listen to many games to this day , but I can't tell anymore if the players are really running around confused or if someone else is.

I loved Karl Malone. For everything he was and what he wasn't. A few folks on the local radio could shut thier holes about Karl--still jealous after all these years.

I went to my first game in about 1988. Drove 2.5 hours with a my Jr Jazz team, my first real time in the city. I was scared we were gonna get killed by gangs in the mall food court before the game. Jazz against Dallas Mavericks. Jazz won despite Ron Harper, Renoldo Blackman, Sam Perkins, and James Donaldson. Perkins and Donaldsen tried to gaurd Karl--they failed. I still have the game program somewhere.

Remember that trick only works on the weak-minded.

So I believe you 100%.

I became a Jazz fan because I wanted to say, "Horny for three!" without getting in trouble.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to TroutBum again.

was born one, always watched them on the tv for as long as i can remember. didn't start going to games till like the late 90's(also when i started going to ute football games with the family)

Introduced in a fairly peculiar way.

Growing up in Edmonton, Basketball definitely isnt as popular. I was introduced by the Jazz (Karl Malone specifically) through a "Chicken Soup for the *******'s Soul" book. Karl had a pretty heartfelt excerpt (in my 9 year old opinion at the time), and his name sorta lingered in my brain for the next few years. 2 years ago I started following the NBA, searched up Karl Malone and Jazz history and Ive been hooked ever since. Still havent attended a Jazz game yet, but I plan too once im a bit older and richer.

How old are you?

i used to always play as the jazz in a computer game called lakers vs celtics.. and the season opener in '90 was jazz vs suns in tokyo and luckily for me it was on tv in australia and thats where i got my first look at them playing.

I grew up just outside of Portland, OR and was a die-hard Blazer fan for most of my life. I moved to Utah in the 90's and remained a Blazer fan for a few years, but began gradually to transfer my loyalty to the Jazz. I officially transfered my 100% loyalty to the Jazz during their first run to the Finals. Haven't looked back since.

I don't remember when I exactly became a Jazz fan...I just remembered that I watched the finals game with my dad and actually cried secretly in my room when they lost. I was a frustrated fan...even as a child. For many years after I spent an hour a day just shooting hoops. There's a kid in my neighborhood who shoots hoops diligently almost everyday (even in the cold) and I find it really cool cause I remember when I used to do that. Now i'm in college and BORING AS HELL LOL.

My father is a great fan of jazz and due to him I started taking interest in it..And now i feel myself the biggest fan of jazz...

I was a closet NO Jazz fan when I was in high school. I loved Pete Maravich/Truck Robinson but I became a real fan when they moved to SLC. I went to the very first regular season home game. I don't live in Utah anymore but I watch pretty much every game on NBA league pass.
