How did you become a Jazz fan?

I was 7, and the first basketball game i ever saw was the 1997 NBA finals. Being 7, i decided to root for the Jazz because i liked their jerseys more, and I've been a Jazz fan ever since.(im from L.A. and i hate the lakers and lakers fans probably more than you do). If i had liked the bull's jerseys more, my whole life would have been different...O_O

This reminds me of how I became a Buffalo Bills fan.

I came out of my mom's womb yelling, "...and the ol' cowhide globe hits home!"

:o

I honestly don't remember how it all started. I just remember watching Jazz games with my grandma when I was little and now I can't stop.

I've lived in Utah my whole life and I watched some Jazz games on tv. My parents took us to the tour of the Delta Center when it was finished. They took my brother and I to a preseason game vs the Lakers as an early b-day present. That was the first game I went to. Magic Johnson had the "flu" however, and didn't play. But it was still great. Then I got to go to a game every year when I played Jr. Jazz. I kept following the team as I got older. Instead of taking a summer vacation in 1998 we got tickets to the playoff games. We only had two tickets (in a family of 4) so we had to trade off games. If there had a been a game 7 that year, I'd have been there. As it was I'm glad the Jazz won in game 1 at least. That is the highlight of my Jazz fandom. Before leaving the country to serve a mission for the LDS church I went to see John Stockton play for what I correctly figured was the last time in December. Anyway, now that this post has gotten really long, I'll end by staying that I'm still a huge fan. And always will be, assuming the organization stays classy.

I moved to Idaho from Texas when I was 2. I was introduced to the NBA in the mid 70's and started liking the Spurs (liked George Gervin), the 76'ers (liked Dr. J), and then also liked the Lakers (80's with Magic, Worthy, etc...). When I graduated from HS in the late 80's, my parents moved to Salt Lake City. They started liking the Jazz and eventually got season tickets. When I came home from college on Holidays, I would go to a few games. It just kinda evolved from there and I started liking the Jazz at the beginnings of the Stockton/Malone era. As it stands right now, the Jazz are my favorite team with the Mavericks a very close second.

May 12, 1991. I was visiting cousins in Las Vegas where I witnessed for the first time a basketball game on TV. It turned out to be the last game ever at the Salt Palace - a 104-101 loss to the Blazers. I was in awe over the small white guy on the losing team that led a comeback almost on his own. It is rare that one becomes a fan of the team that loses in the first game they ever see, but it apparently "glutton for punishment" is a requirement to apply for Jazzfandom. No regrets.

My dad watched every single game as I was growing up. He bought me one of those 5 foot indoor basketball hoops, I would shoot around and recreate the plays on this little hoop while my dad watched the game. My favorite players were David Benoit and Blue Edwards, because they were in the dunk contest. I have watched nearly every game since I was 5 or 6.

I feel like I've posted this before, but any who;

Not sure what y'alls vision is like, but the third name on the column to the left reads Karl Malone, if I'm not mistaken. I read this book in the 4th grade, and was very intrigued by the selection from Karl Malone that he wrote. I remembered it seeming so real, relatable, and human from my 9 year old perception. Regardless, I grabbed a NBA book from the mid-nineties from my school library, and it had like 4 pages on this "awesome" Utah Jazz team. Infatuation sorta started there, with my team-following picking up more after the 2007 run, with me catching occasional game right up until the 2010 playoff series. After that point, Ive probably caught like 90% of the games they've played since then.

Still haven't seen an NBA game, haven't been to Utah, or anything of that nature. Planning a visit to Utah after my 3rd year of school I think; maybe catch a playoff game, play Poker at Gameface's house (stealing Trouts monies in the process), and MAYBE going on a treasure-hunting trip with PKM and the boys? Who knows.

My older bro is a basketball lover. There was this game he's watching in the very early morning and I was studying in my bed and squinting at the game occasionally. The game was exciting and at the last moments Memo hit 2 back to back clutch threes and tied the game or the Jazz took a 1 point lead. Then this veteran player(maybe eddie house? or someone like him) of the opponent came and hit the game winner and Jazz lost the game. I don't remember the game or who was the opponent(memphis, houston?) but I remember those moments. My bro was roaring angrily and I was mocking him. That was the moment I noticed that basketball games are not boring as much as soccer games to watch and I started to watch a lot of games of Memo, and my transformation into a Jazz Fan has completed in the year which the Jazz reached the conference finals.
