What's new

How did you become a Jazz fan?

I love Enes Kanter, Turkiye, Soccer (especially playing it), Okur, and turkish delights.

I love you too PKM and your beau... No, no I can't even make jokes about wifeys.

So you want to climb up on my list?

Huh? What list are you referring to?

OK maybe you're playing me but maybe you can't see my new sig. I made a sig which is a list of my fav posters here and you're on the 12th as of now.

I've been a Jazz fan since Horny joined the Jazz. I went to Iowa State when Horny played there. I had been a Celtics fan for years and Larry Bird was my favorite, and still is, favorite all-time player. Smartest player with best instincts I've ever seen in all my years watching basketball. Well, after he retired, my interest in the Celtics faded and I always liked Horny, for the same reason I liked Bird, because they knew how to play, they made the most of their limited athletic ability with smarts and great skill. I also liked John Stockton, the way he played the game (to use the cliche, the right way). And Karl, he was just an animal and I don't think he was that smart a player, but he listened to Sloan who also knew the game, as CJ mentioned in his post. The Jazz in those days were fun to watch because they played so efficiently and so well, and I've been hooked ever since.

I didn't know Horny went to ISU.

Horny and Royce White connection.

Tinsley too ... wonder if that entered into the Jazz picking up Tinsley.

Horny was a walk-on at ISU, believe that. Didn't even get a scholarship. His father coached Isaiah Thomas in high school too, so he had the coach's mindset from early on and I think that's what made him such a smart player. Even at ISU, he surprised people that he did so well. And it wasn't until his senior year that people started to realize how good he was, but even then people didn't think he'd be good enough to make it in the NBA.

Thanks PKM for bringing in our beautiful flag. I love my country so much(even though I hate it so much at the same time).

Salutes from my country to all Jazz fans in the world. (Not to the Jazz/the Music fans, except N. Jones of course)

Have you ever tried turkish delight? Not so good..... that C.S. Lewis is full of crap!!

Hmm, there are many kind of turkish delights, which one have you tried, must be the classical one. I don't like it either but there are some very delicious kinds, I suggest the tiny ones with coconut.

Anyway, PKM if you ever try it, don't eat much, I bet you wouldn't want to ruin your teeth.

Back to the topic, yeah this is how I became a Jazz fan...

When I was young I was a Stockton and Malone fan (plus Horecek of course) But I wasn't really a 'Jazz' fan until Harpring and Kirilinko came along. That was when I learned the name of all of the players and watched the draft and many more games.

What the hells with all that horrible speeling? Lol

Why do people have to hijack threads with their own personal b.s. that most people aren't interested in? When that happens, the mods ought to automatic neg reps. If people want to talk about how beloved or hated they are on Jazzfanz, then maybe they ought to start a new forum for that. This is supposed to be about Jazz talk and I think this is a good topic that the OP started.

Hmmm, I think you're from Norway, over 30, no kids and you're Atheist.

What made me like the Jazz? Stockton's humbleness, Malone's beastliness, and Horny's funny move before he shoots a FT. The Jazz always seems to be an underdog, I like that too. My original team is the Supersonics since I came from Seattle, but for some reason I have never been that attracted to them since they moved to OKC.

I became a Jazz fan because of Stockton. My dad played at Gonzaga with him at the time, and just said what a great guy he was. They were teammates and friends and my dad rooted for him so I rooted for the Jazz also.

For reals. Circle Jerks are for their own threads which are made regularly.

You can neg rep them if you feel that strongly about it.
