He needs to increase his lift if he is going to be an elite center. He runs the floor well, has a good motor and has a good instinct to get rebounds, so he's got the potential to be an elite player but it's too early to tell.
I think it's pretty safe to say he is gong to be an effective rebounder. If he is going effective on offense, he has to play like he did against the Lakers. He needs to develop a post game and inside moves. He has been improving until the last month. It's obvious Ty has lost confidence in him and he hasn't been rebounding as well. Everyone on this board better hope he pans out, or the Jazz will have blown a #3 pick.
He has obviously hit a little bit of a wall recently.
Before that, he was way ahead of schedule.
Am I surprised that a 19-year old who hadn't played competitive bball in essentially two years hit a wall in a condensed 66-game schedule? **** no, I'm not.
Kanter will go down as the second best player in the 2011 draft. It's hard to project what he'll average in the future since he'll be playing along side Favors, and who knows who else, but generally I view him as having 20/12 potential.
Hard to say, it's a weak draft. The only players I could really see us regretting not taking would be Thompson, Val, Biyombo. And I'd take Kanter over any of them at this point.
He has a LOT of developing to do. He proves effective a lot of the time, however he looks like a little kid when the basketball is tossed to him, wide-eyed looking at the rim and kinda lunging at scoring 2 points. I see a lot of potential, but then i really he was the 3rd overall pick, which is pretty disappointing.
