How dumb are West Valley Police?

The case is now officially closed and the fact that they never arrested Josh Powell is just mind blowing. He had the absolute worst story ever!

-He takes his kids "camping" in the middle of the night during a snow storm on a Sunday night while his "wife is sleeping". He doesn't call into work that he won't be there. His only excuse is he thought it was Saturday night.

-He was having an affair with a prostitute months leading up to her disappearance

-Josh had his wife's phone with him and he had removed the SIM card.

-A drop of her blood was found on the carpet next to carpet that had just been recently cleaned

-Josh never went out and looked for his wife, while clearing out her retirement accounts.

-He had rented a car the day after the disappearance and put over 800 miles on it in just 2 days, why in the hell was he not followed?

No, the thread is about how the case is officially closed and how shocking it still is that he was never arrested, especially with some of the new information just released. It's not about changing people's minds or my mind about the case.

A lot of evidence that is suspicious but nothing that I have seen that is proof that he 100% killed her.

1. Prove that she is dead? Body?
2. Prove that she was murdered?
3. If so, prove she was definitely murdered by Josh and not her father-in-law?


For the record I do think he killed her but no concrete evidence on how and who killed her.

I agree, the WVPD really screwed the pooch on this one. I remember how days after she disappeared that Powell seemed more concerned with skipping town and "forgetting" where they camped out than on finding his wife. I remember that night too. Bitter cold. Out of no where he takes 2 young boys camping in the middle of the night without letting anyone know? Who does that? Then, shortly after, he comes out with some weird *** story that she skipped town (without any of her credit cards, checks, personal id, to brazil with some dude. Remember that? Did she speak Portuguese? Were there any actual records of that? How was she expecting to get into brazil via plane? They sorta check id down there. How were they going to survive without money or id or ability to speak the language?

Just stupid stupid stupid.

They should have jailed him and kept him there until the investigation had closed just for the rental car, bloody carpet, and retarded story alone. But unfortunately the police were too busy doing drugs and killing innocent kills to do any actual police work. If I am ever killed I would rather have Mickey mouse work on my case over the WVPD.

Honestly the reason they didn't arrest the guy is they wanted to charge him with murder and they didn't have enough evidence to do so and they didn't want to just hold him for 48hrs just out of suspicion!!!
