How good can Anthony Bennett get?

I see him averaging 17 and 7 and a solid comp player IF he works on his conditioning and can get his asthma under control. What you have seen is not a 100 percent AB.

So, what's the deal here? I haven't seen any of Bennett's college footage(cause NCAA ball is hella boring, bros) and I sure as hell don't go out of my way to watch the Cavs. I've never seen a number one pick struggle like this...even Kwame. Hell, Adam Morrison managed to get on the floor for about 30 minutes a game in his rookie season, solely on the strength of "we drafted him, we better freaking play him" logic. Why does Bennett suck so much? Was he always like this? I don't recall media trashing the Cavs for picking him.

First of all: It's a Cavs pick with no concensus at the slot...
2nd: His asthma should have been known predraft when they get their medical checks from the league.
3rd: How does asthma and sleep apnea or whatever the other thing is influence the physical work a player can do?
4th: I'll give him some time. Being a rookie is never easy. Battling for minutes with Tristan Thompson doesn't make it easier. He was injured preseason, and he's trying to play catchup with the rest. He should have done his conditioning in the D-League to have more practice time and get some playing time that features him as a main option to regain confidence and rhythm. Then bring him to Cleveland and give him a chance to be a solid rook.

poorman's draymond green. lol same exact size, but at least draymond gives you intangibles.

bennett is legitimately 6ft 5 1/2 at best. if he is 4, then he should've been already making an immediate impact. but man, he looks godawful.
i wanna see him lose 20lb and just 100% convert to 3. give me kevin love dedication to be in shape and improve on making 15fter jumpers. maybe if he can knock down his jump shots, he may have some value.

but man, future looks so dim on this dude. not only he will struggle on the court, but he will probably feel so much pressure for potentially becoming the worst #1 pick of all time. if he was picked 12th pick then his struggle won't even be an issue. just too bad.

The funny thing is that his misses are BAD...like they're consistently not even close.

hate his slow and jerky release, and he got no lift on those jumpers. and i don't even know why he is shooting 3's. talk about reaching for stars.

It's weird though...his release was beautiful last year and in HS. He was a monster in non league play, but faded a little in league play. His asthma was the culprit and I think it may doom him in the league. Cavs should shelve him for the season. See a specialist for the asthma, rehab the shoulder (has a history of playing through injuries), lose 30 lbs, see a life coach to rebuild his psyche. I feel terrible for him.

Get him to show some promise. Then get the cavs owner to dump millions of dollars into high performance asthma control.

Win for the cavs... Win for the world

They drafted him number one. If they don't want to reinvest in that investment release him. I promise that as bad as he has been 29 teams will line up for a shot to turn him around.

If you didn't see him in regularly HS or in college, likely 85 percent of basketball fans, you could not understand how talented he is.

Most said he'd be the most gifted scorer in last years class. I still can't figure out what Cleveland thought. They knew of the friendship between Irving - Thompson, yet felt the need to draft a high usage PF to stretch the floor and have a 3rd black hole scoring wise. Even if they got him for the reason to shape the offense around him highlight him then score a favorable trade they're doing a horrible job. He's going nowhere with Cleveland's "development plan"

Watching that video of his misses and (two) makes, he just looks like he's playing a game at a lower speed than everyone else. And in every way, too. Like everything he does, it takes him an extra half a second longer than it should. I watched a couple of his college highlight videos on youtube, but they're all of dunks and other plays where it's hard to tell how quick his reaction time was.
