What's new

How good the Jazz have it.

Boy did this thread take a nose dive.

Back to the original topic. This gives me new hope and confidence that the Warriors will end up giving us the #8 pick. It's just how the Warriors roll.

I thought the same thing. Someway, somehow they will find a way to fumble it away...even if they tank and get a higher seed in the lottery, the ball will NOT bounce their way.

Its funny.. the whole "trading star Ellis for oft injured, once productive center Bogut" seemed like it would fit perfectly into their lore. Not saying Bogut can't return to form, but if he doesn't, it will be par for the course for the Ws

Bill Simmons does it again. Having come of age as a 90s NBA fan, I couldn't help but ask myself year after year how the Warriors continued to look so good on paper, but stink so bad. It sounds like their organization is fundamentally broken, from ownership to coaching and certainly to scouting. No matter how many times they change up the faces therein, it's like Greg Brady handed them the tiki statue back in the 70s.

The one that I never understood was when the Warriors trade Mitch Richmond for Billy Owens.

I mean, at that time, RUN-TMC was very popular and a lot of fun to watch. Richmond was a very good player. Unless he was a total cancer, why would anyone trade him away? Billy Owens was OKAYYYYY at the time, but not even on the same level.
That killed their chemistry and people lost interest. Stupid.

And why did they blow up the 07 team? The team that got to the 2nd round and gave the jazz a tough time?
That was suddenly the 'most exciting team in the league', supposedly young and only going to get better.
Ha! They were broken up so fast, I still don't get it.

I remember for years when players would leave the Warriors they would become All Stars the next year or soon after. That Owen trade puzzled me at the time also. Maybe there was a method to their madness all along but time has proven the decisions to be terrible. On the bright side if you want to spin your trash into gold just offer it to Golden State.

Vescey went from being one of the biggest voices on NBA on NBC to nothing?
The nice thing is that I haven't seen his stupid ugly smug mug anywhere since then.

Vescey may be good, but he let his personal biases get in the way.

.....Vescey started out writing about the NBA for the N.Y. Post back in the mid to late 70's. He must of got his t.v. gig sometime in 2000 or so, but because of his up front, tell it like it is, pull no punches style, I think he got canned from the boob tube! Vescey's wit and exposing of NBA knot-heads for what they are KNOT-HEADS, made his column in the Post hilarious and a must read for NBA followers back in the 70's. Here's a great sample from todays column: "So, Charles Barkley contends playing zone in the NCAA Tourney bleeps; supposedly too easy to score on. In point of fact, Barkley’s area of expertise on the matter is limited to erogenous zones. ... This just in: Having signed Gilbert Arenas, the Grizzlies changed the name of their building to FedExCon Forum.
