What's new

How is everyone going to feel when Josh Howard and Bell come back?

Hayward has played great at SG, so I'd use Bell as an emergency b/u only, or if Burks is way off his game, which does happen periodically. Howard I'm OK with; I think we need another scorer off the bench, so I'd put Howard in that role. I'd still slide Millsap over to SF when it gives us a matchup advantage, which it does NOT always do.

My hope is that CJ and Bell never play another minute in a Jazz uniform. I am ok with Howard as long as he doesn't take away minutes from Hayward or Burks. However, I think Carroll has performed well enough to keep his minutes. If the Jazz simply play our vets big minutes against the Spurs and don't play the young guys than I would rather not make the playoffs and keep our pick.

I'd take Bell over CJ in a heartbeat though. If we have to see one (and we will), it may as well be Bell.

Bell and Howard are game-time decisions as per Locke's twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/Lockedonsports.

I don't know if any of you remember how both Raja and Josh played when they came back from injuries earlier this year--dog crap comes to mind! Corbin needs to keep them out of this game, and then if we win, he should let them play like thirty plus minutes in the last game against hapless Portland since the game won't matter as far as our standings go. I want Corbin to start the big line-up (Millsap at the 3) and then use Tinsley, Burks, Howard, and Kanter as the subs. No Raja allowed! because I want Burks to get Playoff experience this year--it would mean much more to him then anything we would gain (probably lose) with Raja playing. Don't F this up Corbin!

I still don't get why people don't understand that Bell can be a very good player for us if used properly. The lineup of him, Hayward, and Harris gives us 3 shooters who average above 35% from 3. If you put those 3 with Favors and Jefferson it will work. Jefferson will have enough room to operate and dish out to open shooters if doubled and Favors will be free to crash the glass, slash to the rim. Also give Bell the occasional curl play to keep him warm and give him a couple of shots.

He sucks. Sad becasue I was excited to see Raja coming back but it is what it is.

I actually think Raja's a relatively innocuous player with regard to the team's success, and he adds a little toughness, which the team really needs. He does add three-point shooting and is an efficient scorer (ranked 18th in the league by Synergy). I just don't want him taking Burks' minutes, and I have more confidence in the big line-up right now. I don't really like Howard either (ranked 346th in offense by Synergy) since he is a bit of a chucker and cannot hit the three-ball. In fact, Carroll's probably more efficient than Howard right now since he can hit the occasional three point shot. I don't want either of them back right now, to be honest.

Want to see how Raja can help us in the playoffs—like, REALLY, help us in the playoffs.

Substitute World Peace with Raja, and Harden with Tony Parker.

I still don't understand how anybody can still think he's usefull. He shoots an Okay % but refuses to shoot when wide open. Not shooting is almost as bad as missing. In some cases worse. If you won't shoot then you are less of a threat than if you miss. He's defense is also the worst of any of our wings (yes even worse than CJ). He brings nothing to the game but occassionally getting the other team frustrated with his holding and flopping. Which only works with weak minded players. When he plays against a good player, all he does is get them into the game faster. And that can be devastating.

Bell is less usefull at SG than Carrolle, Burks, Hayward, Howard, CJ, Millsap, Watson, Tinsley, Evans, Harris and probably Favors. The only 2 guys on the roster I truly believe would be more worthless at SG than Bell are Jefferson and Kanter.

Like I said in another thread, it's time for us to make a real contribution to this franchise by raising money for Bell's surgery. He can get repaired whatever it is he's been out for and if not that then maybe knee replacement, rotator cuff repair, coronary bypass, lung transplant, breast augmentation, etc. Whatever he needs, let's get it done.
