How long are you going to tollerate losing?

24 and not one more. How long will I tolerate it?

I tolerated 7 years of AK never gaining a pound or a jumper, 5 years of Boozer being hurt or wanting a trade, 6.5 years of Torey Ellis trying to destroy the team I loved. I tolerated Alfense, Chucker Miles, Roger Baal (twice) I watched Arroyo try to loosen the nails in the floor by pounding the ball for 23 seconds of each possession, I tolerated years of watching my heroes growing older and slower and battled with myself over whether I wanted to see them hang it up or not.

I tolerated Ostertag, an All-star power forward who talked about himself in third person, 21 years of playoff disappointment, Stockton never shooting it enough, multiple jazz teams with no bench, the Eaton illegal defense era of offense, 25 years of Sloan style foul for defense and use up 22 seconds of the shot clock before taking a long jumper.

I tolerated an owner who threatened his coach, his players and a few Denver fans, but cried on the radio when talking about the team and the fans.

I tolerated 20 something busted draft picks, players who didn't want to come, players who couldn't wait to leave, and players that we couldn't get rid of.

I have tolerated 3 uniform changes, KJzz disappearing, 4 radio station changes, Hot Rod mumbling, Locke's voice breaking, Ron Boone trying to get a word in and 5,000 references to Matt Harpring playing football, and more Les Olsen Company Commercials than the FDA will allow.

And I have loved it. All of it. And I will watch this season for all 24 wins and each of the 58 losses.

Go Jazz.
This might be the best post I've ever read on this board. That's not really saying much, but still... wow. Repped and liked.

I've never said this. Never once. Never have I insinuated this. If you think the Jazz don't have a plan, your an idiot.

The Jazz have a plan. It is to develop young players. If they lose, they are ok with it. If they weren't ok with losing, they would have brought Millsap back and brought in a Calderon or someone similar. Not traded for Biedrens and Jefferson.
Agree. At the beginning of free agency, I think they still considered fielding a pretty competitive team. Lindsey and Ty both talked about bringing in some veteran leadership. Jazz were linked to Mayo, still speaking with Millsap, were in the running for Copeland, and of course, DeMarre, Sign those guys and bring in a quality PG to share time with Burke, and the jazz would have pretty solid rotations, while still giving the "Core5" 30 mins each. Perhaps not quite a playoff team, but one that could win 38-43 games and have an outside shot if a couple of players really took off. But I think a few things changed Lindsey's mind: 1) teams that everyone expected to tank were making serious upgrades to their rosters; 2) as a result, FA prices were being driven up; 3) the GS deal came along. At that point, Dennis saw a great chance to develop the youth AND get a top-10, if not top-5 pick. Once he gave the nod to the GS deal, we were all-in on "professional tanking," even though the Jazz could probably have still signed at least Millsap and DMC and remained under the luxury tax, even with those all those expirings.

And which team out there was willing to give us their '14 draft picks AND much better players?

What? That has nothing to do with what I said. If the Jazz wanted to win this year, they would have brought back Millsap and gone after Calderon or similar vet pg.

You don't know what they tried to do.. maybe the deal that was done wasn't plan A.

I'm saying it wasn't.. But Burke falling to 9 probably was the best thing to happen to the jazz even if he is a bust !!!

I don't follow.

It sounds like the jazz where looking to sign Mo and pick a back up pg and the Gonzaga dude....

Instead we get Burke we don't sign mo(knocking on wood) we run with the core 5 probably have a worst record then the other option... Especially with the GS trade and we have a great pick next year!!!

Follow??

Yeah, now that, you know, you explained what you were thinking when you typed something that didn't explain it for the first time.

I'll tolerate the Jazz losing for the next 2-3 years. If there is no improvement, I seriously think that the Miller's will consider selling the team.

Still got my look though.

Yup!!!

Agree. I think Plan A was to draft Olynyk, then take Larkin or Schroeder as a backup PG if they slid or draft Gobert as a "project" at #21, then "draft and stash" Neto with the #46. Jazz would have signed Mo and probably brought back DMC and Foye. Millsap? Unsure. That's likely a team that contends for the 8th seed, but perhaps falls just short. But Plan B, IMO, is shaping up better. More short-term pain for a likely top-7 pick in 2014, which is a chance to get a legitimate building block for the franchise. I don't think we would have that with KO or a pick in the teens next year. Oh yeah, we also got some stiff named Trey Burke, who we absolutely know based on 3 SL games will never amount to squat.

I had to spend quite some time explaining the strategy to my father and brother: cue the joke about living in my parent's basement. No, separate long distance phone calls. My brother used to be on Jazzfanz, but never told me what his board name was. I know he's not active anymore and probably doesn't even lurk. My father has always been a huge basketball fan, dating back to the Utah Stars. They were both very surprised to hear my views. But I think I convinced them that not signing any of our FA's and trading for washed up vets in Biedrins and Jefferson was actually a GOOD plan.
