I think the Jazz start out TERRIBLE. 2-14 range. Then Burke comes back, and we continue to struggle a little longer. We probably end up around 6-35 half way through the season. I do think the Jazz make a move or two around the trade deadline (moving Williams/Rush/Biedrens/Jefferson) to help a team obtain either a solid vet for a playoff push, or cap space next summer and the Jazz bring back some talent in the trade. I don't think they want more picks. Like a vet PG. I also think they get rid of Corbin at this point as well.
I think it takes a couple of weeks to get everyone settled in. 8-43 at that point. I do think they begin to piece things together. They now have a coach who actually installs an offense and defense, they have a solid young pg and a vet pg, and they begin to win some games. They actually finish the season just below .500 at 26-56, second worst record in the league. Optimism is high in Jazzland, as our team is coming together.
We then go out, get a real coach. George Karl, Thibbs, SVG. A legit coach. We are set at the PG, PF and SG positions:
Burke, solid vet
Hayward, Burks
Favors
Kanter, Gobert
We then get the third pick in the draft. Wiggins goes #1, Randle goes #2 and Parker comes to us. With our second pick in the draft, we take another big man.
We now look like this:
Real Coach
Burke, vet PG
Hayward, Burks
Parker, Williams or Rush
Favors, rookie PF
Kanter, Gobert
We make the playoffs in 2014-2015. Our coach is coach of the year. Sloan flips him off from the stands when he gets the award and yells, "I never allowed my teams to suck bad enough the year before to qualify me for COTY." Parker is rookie of the year. Parker and Hayward are all-stars. Jazzfanz has endless threads on whether or not to allow the young promising defensive stud Gobert to take the reins and let Kanter walk, or if we should give Kanter the max. The Millers make money hand over fist.
All is right, once again, in jazzland.
