Every so often I'll find myself in the news forum, where stories that are published about the Jazz are automatically compiled into a thread. I saw the headline of "3 intriguing future trade targets for the Utah Jazz to monitor," and thought, 'okay, who wrote this and who do they suggest?'

The tl;dr is:

1. George Hill.
2. OG Anunoby.
3. Kyle Anderson.

I didn't actually bother reading much of the detail, other than skimming it to see if, at the very least, the present a pathway on this, or any argument as to why any team would make a move, even if purely fanboy pontification, but didn't see it.

So I'm curious, with clickbait things like this, how much does an author make off this? $5? $10? Or is this something where the website has people submit for free and they can get their name out there? Or, worse, pay to submit these stories? It got me wondering, out of all the time I spend on here not being paid, maybe I should be doing the opposite of what the news forum does and have a system take each post I make and put it on some junk website that may get a click here and there. It could further justify the time I spend here if at the end of the year I land a financial windfall into the hundreds, or even thousands, of cents.

It is probably paid per article, in the $50-$100 range per article. Some websites might be more old-school and pay per word (the typical way you get paid in a print magazine), maybe 5 to 10 cents per word. They also might make money off clicks and ad revenue on the page their article is displayed. I think it depends on the author's relationship with the web site and their draw. Writing with an established relationship with the web site, an author garnering 5000 clicks will make more than an author garnering 500. But most web sites taking freelance stuff pay by the article, and maybe a bonus for traffic generated. Bottom line, it isn't a ton. It is tough to truly make a living writing internet articles unless you have an established relationship with a known web-zine that involved pay for traffic deals.

Need to start monetizing my nonsense. Imagine making even $10 for my long-windedness that I'm currently doing for free. Even posts from JFC randos beat the quality of what's produced in these articles.

You know I been saying that for a long time... even expert podcasters I listen to **** up all the damn time.

My posts will now be on patreon... will cost you .01 per post read and I get to sell all your personal info.

@infection is a doctor and drives a 97 civic. He gonna get that extra bread. When he dies he gonna leave $25M in stocks to his kids and 980 sq foot condo that he downsized into when the kids moved out.

I kid but I did know one mega millionaire that would drive his 1990 chevy astrovan to meeting with his CPA... he owned like 50 burger kings and 1,000s of apartments.. all free and clear of any debt. One day he finally upgraded to a used Cadillac because "Cadillac's don't hold their value so why buy a new one".

I don't know, but considering he is a deep state communist operative acting primarily in concert with the Kremlin, I am sure he will take rubles. Probably 100 rubles per post. But if he collected by paragraph he would make a killing.

The Internet pays crap. I used to get much more for inch pay as a stringer in the old days. And was getting up to $.50 a word for magazine articles. It's all about promoting yourself and learning how to use SEO, hashtags, and getting your name out there. A lot of people use podcasts to do that, and of course developing email lists to build a following. Anyone here who is savvy about this, I'd like to hear their take on it. Actually, Jazzfanz should start a podcast. It would be fun and maybe generate revenue that could subsidize purchasing tickets to games and other Jazz accessories. I floated the idea a while back but there wasn't much if any interest. I'm sure a lot of posters here would like to be part of it. I did a podcast, just audio, in 2012, and I'm sure there are others with perhaps more experience than me.
