What's new

How much better will we be than last year?

Joe Ingles might be Michael F'ing Jordon. You heard it here first.

The greatest philosopher of our time said "enjoy watching basketball and just enjoy life... I don't know why everyone gets so stressed about it all the time... life is good."

Don't stress... just enjoy it.

If everyone stays healthy 60+ wins
If Gobert missed 30 games again probably 45 wins.

55 to 65 win, 1-2 seed title contenders dont get blown out of the playoffs by the Rockets. Utah will be a healthy version of last season still in need of one more star.

Favors is at a ridiculous 5% body fat, Dante is being touted as the X-factor, Grayson Allen is the "talk of the town" after day two of training camp, AB is coming off a great ending to last season, Rudy is looking prime, Joe is looking pasty, semi-hairless and soft(in other words, great), Don-darling is a social media and marketing hit(and ready to cash in superstar-style), Crowder is at 7% body fat and ready to love basketball again after a tough personal year, Ricky is one of the "6 Most Intriguing Players This Season" according to ESPN's Zach Lowe, Rolls Royce is a two-way threat and ready to show and prove, Udoh has slimmed down, Thabo is ready to do whatever it takes, and Gorgeous Georges is putting in work for the Niang-gang.

Can we take it to the limit?
I would be shocked if we dont get the third seed and disappointed if we finish 5th or under

I think the Jazz make the leap to “mainstream” this season. Countless highlight videos on youtube where I’ve read comments like “my new favorite team”.

Koolaid/Rum it’s a fine line

so tempted to fix that....

On the rum front, (thats rum with an R not a C like douchebag is used to) i'm going to a mates cocktail bar opening tonight. its not quite open yet, should hopefully be done in the next couple of weeks. i'm looking at buying a share down the track.

edit

Cocktail is censored!!! wonder if dicktail is?

The only thing that will hold us back other than injuries is the pressure (expectation).

Before we were taking people by surprise, and everything we did was unexpected.
Now, it's expected for us to be a top team in the West, and yes we should be.

If they team is able to avoid letting the pressure get to them then we should have a true the skies the limit scenario. Aka flirting with Houston and GS as a top team in the West.

For me the natural progression would be to end up #3 in the West challenging Houston for the 2nd seed all year, and a highly competitive playoff series with them possibly winning. It would be nice if the teams ahead of us had the injury bug this year, and we have a shot at leap frogging. I just want this.: To be relatively healthy all year, and see how good this core is. If we end up 4th, and only make it to the second round fine, we'll know we aren't good enough to compete with the big boys (but we all believe we are). Just no major injuries, and lets see how far we can take it. Of course I want the road to be a magical one, and everything to work out in our favor. Exum explodes, Allen has a good rookie year, Donovan takes another leap, Ricky plays the whole year like 2nd half '18 Ricky, Gobert takes it to another level, etc etc. I want a title. Just once. Maybe it doesn't happen this year, but I want progression that we are headed that way...

EXCITING times in Jazzland!

Utah culture is so prone to intoxication with hope. We get a good team, we lose our good sense.

I think it all comes down to finally beating this addiction and just keeping up good team dynamics. I think this is the first time I've agreed with Rev.

But we are a better team now.

So many factors at play. The West got better overall and we obviously play the majority of games against Western Conference teams. So our schedule is likely harder. We lost a ton of games to injury, but we seem to do that every year. Seems to be the norm for Rubio, Exum, Burks, Favors and Gobert to miss a chunk of games. I hope they can stay relatively healthy.

It will also be interesting to see the evolution of Quin's offense. I still see some issues with it, but adding tweaks may make a big difference. They need to speed up a bit imo.

Always hard to determine wins based on health of our squad as well as the rest of the league and overall SOS. I am going to guess 53 wins. I just want to see a full strength playoff roster with HCA in at least one round.

Excited to see what this season brings.
