How the Mormons Make Money

Big fan of the junior high mentality here.

Nope, just curious whether you're in the minority of LDS, being obnoxiously self-righteous/self-entitled .. or whether most just hide it better than you. Was a sincere question.

And I'm not buying trout's suggestion that you're merely trolling. For that matter, I'm also not sure he's ever beaten anyone in bb.

To be honest and transparent, I live everyday of my life inside a Mormon bubble .. nothing wrong with that, and I actualy find it a nice place to live. I respect those I socialize with and they respect me. When I see or hear anyone bashing Mormons, I am quick to defend, consistently.

Therefore, I admit to being somewhat hyper-sensitive to some (Conan) that perpetuate the stereotype that they simply feel elite. Right or wrong .. Conan comes off that way. I've been cool, I think, but self-righteousness attitudes are less fun to side with.
See this is just a lot of blabbery from a soap box. Do you have something specific from that post you could point out that set you off? Because that post was made without any malice (can't speak for my other posts). I'm not saying I don't say offensive stuff. Just not seeing it in that post.

To be honest I'm starting to think you're a little nuts. I mentioned this before but if you are just going to comb through every post and find a reason to be offended than there is no point to going on. And given your following posts it's clear you just have an issue with me (like that NAOS coward tool).

And for the record I'm not better than anyone here. Probably worse. And I have no finesse when I post. No question there. But I do think you're letting the side come out again that made me think you were a girl.

So this forum is where you find your truth? Interesting.

Going back to the original article that I posted. My favorite thing about it is that it clearly states that "no one really knows how much funds the LDS Church has or does with it." Then it goes on by telling the world what it does with it. Brilliant!

Are you implying that no truth can be found on a forum?
Not necessarily. Sorry. If you are using the herd mentality then yes. For example, making a statement like this "I'll be shocked if a grand total of 3 posters claim they are supportive of a Mormon coming off so 'better.' I'm seriously curious if there is majoritive LDS support of this guy."

Those are junior high tactics (ie "let's have a popularity contest") and not good place to look for truth.

I'd prefer you had some sack.

That's fair, in this thread. I just can't bring myself to bitch-slap you when the topic if Religion. It's a weakness, I know. Just about everything else is fair game with me .. but I draw the line with one's faith.

So to summarize:

PKM is uber-sensitive and will exhibit girl-like tendancies when talking about LDS folks and especially Conan. These tendancies may include changing the subject, claiming moral high ground, claiming mercy, not answering questions, jumping to conclusions, being a victim.

Well sure that's the end game. But none of us are perfect last I heard and there are many religious concepts people don't understand within their own faith. Sometimes you just obey because you have faith. And that obedience is rewarded and maybe even down the line you get some enlightenment. Hopefully you maybe get to a point where you do good things for the sake of doing good things. But if I waited to do good things til I felt good about them I wouldn't be a very good Mormon. Not to mention coming from that angle doesn't appeal to me (seems very lazy).

Another good example would be the Word of Wisdom. Mormons quit smoking long before it was found to be harmful.
Still wondering what was in this post that put PKM on tilt.

Dumbass take. Jumping in the pool with my kids. I'll have to catch ya later. Stay warm.

I just don't get why people get so bunged hole over the church donating it's money to the city if founded, is dedicated to, and where their headquarters are currently based.

Now, do I agree the church should have spent this much money on a shopping mall? Not really. I liked Cross Roads Mall and I hated that it was torn down. I will admit, I didn't read the article. Did it say the money for this mall came from tithing money?

That was unclear to me after reading it. It talked about non-profit and for-profit parts of the church but I wasn't sure which one funded the mall.
I don't think the 2 billion is a donation by the church, though.

how's this for those statistics:

I'm officially counted as a member of the church because I was born to a single mother who was once baptized.... despite the fact that I've never gone to church. Over 80% of my friends in college are also falsely counted.

Aren't the stats based on self-reports?

Before this thread happened, I wasn't sure what the differences were between Scat and CONAN. I know now.

good catch

I don't know anything about the particular site Archie sent us to. I do know that, by and large, church statistics can be heavily skewed.

I'm ready to guarantee that SLC is nowhere near that Mormon. I've read a few opinions that say SLC proper lost its Mormon majority as early as the early-1900s (the same voting block that is listed on the website).
