Thus might surprise everyone but I like what Burke showed last year. His clutch shooting was insane. What I didn't like was the other 28+ minutes he was in the floor and he was a liability.
I would have preferred to see the Jazz shoot for potential last draft rather go with a safe pick aka Burke.
Hind sight is 20/20 but the three players I really liked last year (that likely would have been available at their picks) were Schroder, Giannis and Gobert.
Giannis is going to be a force in this league soon if it isn't this year. Dennis is showing a lot of promise during SL and we all know what Gobert is doing. Could you imagine if the Jazz had Giannis, Rudy and Exum on the same team? Talk about long and fun to watch.
I don't disagree with you that he was a huge risk but I thought Utah is one of the few teams that could have taken that risk especially at 14.Let's be honest though, no one thought Greek freak would have blossomed into the player he is now much less the player he will become as quickly as he has. He was one of the most likely busts in the draft. The potential was there and he has made amazing strides to reach it. Can't fault the jazz for trey in that draft. Trey was definitely the safe pick as you stated, but was also one of the few players you could definitely say will play beyond his rookie deal.
Exum is nowhere near ready to start, but JLIII and Burke are backups and most likely always will be, so I voted to start Exum at PG.
Great we got a mike bibby...

I am surprised how quickly he has developed. I thought he'd be two years away from looking like he did during SL.
I didn't want safe at all. I wanted potential and Giannis is dripping with it, so is Exum.
Exactly. He had a ton of potential. I had no interest in something safe. Winning wasn't the goal last year. Pick a guy with an incredibly high ceiling and let him gain experience.Lets be honest he had good potential at 6'9", but now has superstar potential at 6'11". Just like Paul George, every GM in the league would have taken these guys top 3 if they knew that late growth spurt would happen.

I'm telling you that I would have been one of those people to have taken him. You might now have, other might have passed on him but I would have pulled the trigger. It's hindsight bias though. Lots of people liked the freak but only one team was brave enough to pick him. For every one freak there have been 5 or 10 Anthony Randolphs. After the fact people come back and say I told he'd be great... But we always forget the others we fell in love with that flame out.
Burke was a good pick... Will have a ten year career. We shouldn't cast him aside because we have a new shiny object. He's also being a total pro about it.

Weren't you also over the moon with Saer Sene? How about Bismack Biombo (or whatever his scrub name is)?
