What's new

I can't shake this feeling

Anyone watch much Celtics? What role does he play for them next year?
Tatum is awesome and is mostly being limited by lack of attempts, his percentages are insane. Hayward wouldn't shoot better percentage wise, but he would take even more attempts away from Tatum.

Brown seems like he could be really good too.

Obviously having an all star like Hayward won't hurt them. But I really don't know how much better they would be with him out there. He would probably have a bigger impact on 29 other teams rather than the Celtics.

I am intetested to see what happens when Haynerd returns next season. Brown, Tatum, Morris, smart, Kyrie and the others may not like giving up touches to facilitate haynerd...and last year's Utah Jazz Hayward had to touch the ball a lot to get the numbers he did.

On the other hand if they dont force feed haynerd the ball everyone will be asking "whats wrong with him?" he loves the media so that should be fun.

Its easy to imagine several scenarios where Ainge trades him before contract is even 1/2 done.

Im not sure he will even come back the same player. One thing to break your ankle. But to break it and dislocate it. Its never going to feel the same.

Hayward should regret leaving on that aspect alone.

maybe. but i once learned that lets say i was in the position he is in. having broke his ankle. thinking it owuld not have happened if he stayed in utah.
regret leaving because he broke his ankle. but maybe if he stayed in utah, he or his wife or kid might have died in a drunk driving accident. but because he was in Boston it did not happen.
maybe it was a bargain. i would prefer breaking my ankle the way he did than losing a family member. if he thinks like that he wont regret it because of the injury!

so i think he should have no REGRATS

That’s kind of what I’m waiting for... Celtics have a few mouths to feed now and it isn’t like Hayward is super assertive. He’s going to sacrifice... ironically his numbers likely decline, at least in volume, and it may cause him to miss out on the individual honors that he was partly seeking.

I just think he could have had a statue and his name in the rafters here... it is unlikely that happens for him now... anywhere. I wish he would have given us the PG or at worst the CP3 heads up that he was leaving... other than that I don’t care that much that he left. I don’t think it was a good move for his legacy but it may lead him to the Finals at some point... he will likely be in a tertiary role if they get that far but whatevs.

I also don’t buy the whole DM wouldn’t be what he is if Gordon was here. We have so many possessions that could be used by Hayward and I think they’d compliment each other quite well. DM is money on catch and shoot threes so he could play the George Hill role and help Gordon when he is trying to create. Add in that DM might not be getting the Best perimeter defender on the other team and I think he might be doing even better.

Gordo would likely be jealous doe. DM has a ceiling that dwarfs Gordon’s.

That’s why I’d almost support bringing him back as a kind of humiliating control issue — kind of like a crazy ex-girlfriend someone thought they left behind but she reveals she wasn’t really on the pill.

I do wonder, though, what Ainge would be thinking regarding dealing him and what kind of market is out there for him. It would make a lot of sense, and would be consistent with Ainge’s MO, if they dealt him for a PF.

Ainge will use him in the impending Anthony Davis deal. Will justify by saying they needed to match salary. Gordon will be forced to play with Boogie the rest of his career.

Maybe that would be an even better way to end things — didn’t like the support you got while with the Jazz? Go to the city that couldn’t even support them...

Here’s an idea that allows Gordon to take care of unfinished business with Shelvin Mack:

One that allows him to go to a historic franchise:
