I hate Locke

Locke tries hard and works hard, I admire that. We're very lucky to have someone like him to keep us in the loop and just talk about the team.

His interviews are cringe-worthy. Every time he says some stupid tidbit that he thinks is ground breaking and just sits there waiting for a response makes my skin crawl, but at the same time its endearing.

All this dislike amuses me. Could they be better? Of course but it does not diminish from my enjoyment of the game.

I dont think CAKAR really knows about Locke, so that he may have been entitled to have an opinion on him.
He is just trolling.
He is a Turkish-Rwandan-German living in Germany.

Ich habe es gewüsst, dass er eine Türkische Kartoffel ist.

I need to start reading more German again.

I appreciate David Locke. Yes, he's irritating. Yes, his particular journalistic style of updating his listeners over the minutia of his family life results in a "Stop wasting my time and tell me about basketball" reaction. (Seriously dude, don't talk about your summer road trip, no one cares. And no one cares what question your six year old daughter has for Gordon Hayward.) Yes, his play-by-play has room for improvement.

But as others have said in this thread, the dude works HARD. A video podcast done every morning, where he answers fan questions? Incredibly active twitter feed? Huge numbers and statistical analysis? Getting national writers on podcasts to share their opinion about the Jazz? (Getting Chad Ford during the draft for example was awesome.)

We are LUCKY to have a guy that cares about the Jazz as much as he does and works his tail off to provide us with perspective. We can disagree with his perspective all we want, but he's offering it up regularly, and at the end of the day that's what you want out of a news personality.

Wouldn't trade the guy for any other 'local' news personality in the business.

This guy must do the commentary on everything that involves basketball or sports in general!!!

Kyle Montgomery ladies and gentlemen...

I think that Locke represents the Jazz homer in all of us. I read his stuff, I look at his posts on Twitter. Why? Cause I love the Jazz not Locke.

Look if he wants to worship these ball players that are half his age so be it, he can embarrass himself all he wants. At the end of the day we all watch it cause we are dying to get into he minds of our team. We are dying to know as much as we can so that we can discuss the Jazz with anyone who is a fan.

You can't be normal and be a true Jazz fan!!! It's not possible!!! We can only hang our hat on the fact that the whole fan base can't see us acting the same way as Locke!

Ich empfehle dir dich in Deutscher Barockliteratur weiter zu bilden, da kann ich dir eine Oper geschrieben von "Daniel Casper von Lohenstein" zu Herzen legen ?

People who are thinking that I know nothing about Locke, they are knowing nothing about me... :)

I appreciate all the content he creates. His interviews are awkward at times, but I like hearing his perspective and like his effort to get opinions on the Jazz from other national guys.

Tip off, podcasts, etc. I like having these things available. He's the play by play guy. He produces more fan oriented content than the majority of other play by play guys nationwide do for their fan bases.

That's how I feel. He's not perfect, and I dislike his homerism most of the time, but I appreciate all of the content he produces. And I guess unlike a lot of people here I actually like the statistical stuff he puts together.

yeah, but Locke is more homer than Homer Simpson...
Maybe he is the biggest Jazz Fan on earth, maybe he really loves to work for Jazz and his smiling is no fake. But that does not make a good journalist our a good annoncer out of him !!!

He always working with statistics, but basketball is more than some numbers...

Maybe Im the only one, but I just hate this guy...

Locke as a radio personality is ok. He's still a douche though.

Locke as a play-by-play guy is like having Miley Cyrus have a educational teenager show on PBS. It's a ****ing nightmare.

I think Locke is knowledgeable about basketball and entertaining , but sometimes gets lazy at pronouncing players names correctly or gets overly-excited to an annoying level. He is pretty clueless about football though when he shows up on radio talk shows.

Boler however, is charismatic and speaks more clearly, but started completely clueless of basketball. He is improving a bit, but its still very noticeable. However, he is MUCH better at college football.

You're recommending that I continue to study German Baroque literature, so you can perform a heartfelt opera by Daniel Casper von Lohenstein?

Lmao.

The one thing that annoys the heck out of me from Boler is when he says, "Nothing but net!" after it rattles around the rim 3 times.
