What's new

I have seen the future...

Echoing much of what has already been said..... his speed and length are elite, his passing is good, his ability to get to the rim is elite, his aggressiveness and fearlessness has been a revelation.

But i always knew/assumed most of that (other than his newfound aggressiveness and fearlessness). I have always said that his ceiling will be determined by his shooting.

So far this year in a small sample size he is shooting 41% from the field and 31% from three. Those numbers are very similar to his career numbers (40% and 31%). Those numbers need to improve quite a bit.
At least he is getting to the line a bit more though.

Those are the same numbers, but he has never really been defended before. Just the eye test confirms that he has improved immensely on offense. He is finally to the point where increased playing time will do some real good.

It's not Dante's first step, it's his second and third. He's turning into a thoroughbred. I have a feeling he'd beat everyone in the league in a 100-yard-dash.

Not sure what are you watching. When Westbrook or Wall accelerates it's just amazing burst of speed. Dante does not leave that impression. He is quick, but not that quick.

He could improve his handle quite a bit too.

With where he's currently at if you add a pull-up jumper, better shooting % and some better dribbling skills he becomes extremely dangerous. I love that he already plays lock-down D and has a knack for making the right play/pass. And he has that length. I don't think it's a stretch to see improvement in those areas over the next several years. He doesn't turn 24 until next July.

Quin must be salivating at the thought of developing Dante.

I’d bet he’d beat those two over 100m comfortably. He doesn’t have as quick a first step but like someone’s else said the surge of acceleration with his second, third and fourth steps are wicked

I think you would lose this bet badly. If his second , third and 4th step would be so great he would have better time in 3/4 court dash ( which is about 23 metres ). Now his result is pretty mediocre even before ACL surgery ( worse than Burks, Mitchell, Foye, Bolomboy, etc).. What you are hoping that after 23 metres while being behind by remarkable distance he would sprint better in last 77 metres? I just do not see it.

Sometimes combine numbers are not great representatives of actual abilities. The combine gets its wrong on some occasions. This is one of those times.

Everyone (other than you) watches dante on the court an sees elite rare speed. If everyone else sees something that you dont then there is a chance that you are the one who is wrong rather than everyone else.

well, you should correct it to "everyone on Jazzfanz"... I visit a lot of other team forums and never seen somebody raving about how fast Exum is. But most agree that Westbrook, Wall and Shroeder for example are fast.

I wonder why he’s like that? Did X steal his ex? or maybe he’s a big time Trey striptease Burke fan salty coz the Jazz dreafted Exum to replace him? How can anyone hate Bambi?
I do not hate him to clarify for the 100's time.. I just do not see him as superstar or anything special like some here imagining.

National broadcasters always comment about Exums speed as well.

While i still think his ceiling is something similar to Shaun Livingston- long wing off the bench who can add to a good team, we still need to see some more consistency in order for him to reach that point.

In 14 games last year PER was 16 with a TS% of 56%.

Through 6 games this year, PER 12, TS% 51%.

Ideally for a guy like him who just isn't that great- but defends really well and can switch, etc to make up for a general lack of production, I'd like to see him settle in somewhere in between- 14-15 PER, TS% of 54-55%. I can be happy with that production for a guy who defends as well as he does.

Lol journalists who sit court side and watch all the players up close and in person wax lyrical about his speed.
Training camp reports that he is eons ahead of all other Jazz players in speed drills.

Enjoy your H8erade
