What's new

I remember when Carlos Boozer was with the JAZZ.

Yeah, I'm aware of this. It was also a lockout shortened season and Big Al isn't exactly the pillar of physical ability. Most centers in the league aren't all out hustle machines. If you look at the majority of centers (even in the playoffs) they always look a little bit lazy.
I am so sick of the "lockout shortened season" excuse. Are you saying al will be less lazy next season? He will be the same defense-less teeeeeeeeeerd

I would prefer to have a center that is less scoring minded anyways, and there are some out there. There are actually a lot that give more effort than him. Al has some Boozer esque qualities. He avoids mixing it up to not foul. He is absolutley useless on the fast break, offense or defense. We got to have all five guys hustling. I'll take a hustle guy over a no defense no hustle 20/10 guy every day of the week. I would say Al ranks pretty low in Centers who hustle.

Then there is the whole thing where he cant draw fouls. He is a below average rebounder too. He just has so many issues that I dont see him getting over.

You are aware Jefferson was 12th in rebounds per game? He is far from below average. He isn't a great rebounder by any means, but he is a good rebounder.

....I agree 100%! The lockout shorten season excuse for bad basketball just doesn't hold water! These guys could practice for 100 years and still make the same stupid mistakes over and over again! It's in their DNA! Play ground basketball is in their blood! They are who they are.

Yeah, there is no way playing that many games in such a short time frame has any negative repercussions on your body, especially on a 280 lb center who has limited mobility to begin with.

Al was 16th of 32 qualified centers in rebounds per minute (per espn) this past season.

Also, consider that rebounding is about more than just who grabs the ball. Al is a poor team rebounder. Go ahead and look at the on-court/off-court team rebounding numbers for the Jazz's 4 bigs (hint: Al is easily the worst of the 4).

Al is, at best, an average rebounder at the 5.

Here we go again with the stats. They dont mean as much as you think they do. Al's offensive rebounds dont come because he hustles for one. They are a result of him Failing on his own shot and the ball drops in his lap. His defensive rebounds come because he doesnt help on defense and he is often standing right under the basket alone . He gets more gimmie rebounds than most guys.
