I Think We Are Going Tank City Next Year

I agree 100%.. i just didnt want to get reimed for putting burks on the bench... Illusion or not. i cant see a team with a foundation of (favors, kanter, hayward carroll, burks, evans, most likly foye) being a bottom 5-10 team. they would have to have like a 20-42 record or something....

What about the other 20 games in the 82 game season :)

You mean 20-62?

I don't think we're looking for a 20-62 record. I believe a 30-52 record, with plenty of close losses and guys fighting hard would get us around the #10 - #12 pick mark.

With a potential LOADED WITH TALENT draft class next year, that might be enough for us to get a pretty decent SF out of it.

Note: The point to me is to get Favors/Kanter/Hayward/Burks fighting for wins. They need to step up next year and learn how to do that from experience, without having Big Al & Millsap carrying them.

I really do completly agree. But i dont think they will just be competing. i see them learing how to win together and succeding at it. Let me ask you a question. How many years did it take kd and westbrook and harden to learn how to win together? I think favors and kanter and hayward and burks are ready to start winning. They say great players arent great because they love winning, but becuase they hate loosing. and i think this core 4 hates to loose.

At then end of next season i might be hearing alot of IToldYaSos... but i think i might be the one saying it to y'all. worst i can see us doing is like 37-45 wins.

Well they started winning it in their third year together.

That's 2 years after they started playing & taking responsibility for the team.

So I would suggest it would take at least '13/14 and '14/15 before we can start turning into a winning basketball team. If I'd had to guess I'd say:

'13/14: 30-62
'14/15: 40-42
'15/16: 50-32

Hopefully that's achievable.

2009-2010 they went straight from a 25 win season to a 50 win season. they had all the pieces. their bench still wasnt the best though. Basically as soon as those 4 including ibaka got together they started winning.. there are lots of varibles but i have a good feeling. i have seen to much from these young guys to think other wise. anyways, i am getting myself all amped for this season when its still oh so far away..

I think that's key. They had Westbrook at PG. They had Durant at SF. They had Harden at SG. Ibaka at PF.

We still lack a major cog in the machine - the PG - which to me is a very important position.

We may get Schroeder/MCW/McCollum/Larkin in the draft - but don't you think it'll take them 1-2 years to "learn the ropes" before start contributing in a meaningful way?

i think a PG is important. however i dont think u need a borderline alstar PG. I think if whoever we draft at PG gets decent playing time we will be up to speed by next year. but i still dont think this year will be a flop.

Three things will KILL that Jazz record this year:

1 - Foul trouble, especially on the road. I think 10 wins on the road will be a stellar season.

2 - Rookie pg. If we do draft a rookie, he will cost us games as he learns how to close a NBA game.

3 - No bench.

I would set the over/under at 30 games for the Jazz. That puts them in range of the #10 pick in the draft. If someone gets hurt, or Corbin costs us 3-5 wins, that drops us clear down to the fourth pick.

I think this team has worlds of talent, but they don't have a pg, and they don't have a go-to guy. Offensively, we will be TERRIBLE next year. I see this team being up 4-5 in a lot of games and losing, especially early in the year and especially on the road.

Yeah OK - may be get them experience in '13/14 and they're ready to go in '14/15. I still think '13/14 will be a struggle though.

Let's say we drafted Schroeder (most likely PG candidate at #14). Numerous mainstream commentators are saying, with how young & inexperienced he is, that it will take at least 2 years in the NBA before he's a legit starter.
