It just became so clear. KOC obviously called Rush this earlier and said "Look, Brandon, we all know what is going on here. They are asking you to miss shots so they can draft someone to replace you. I'm not having that ****. You play well enough to win them games and keep them in the 8th spot, I will sign you to a contract."

No mabies about it. This is one of the most blatant tank jobs ever. Some of us have been predicting this since the beginning of the season. Tanking isn't about players losing games on purpose. It's about management sitting out players in order to increase their odds of losing, and in this case, trading away one of their best players for another injured player who can't play. Just because they don't lose every single game, doesn't mean they're not tanking. I really thought this was all common knowledge by now.
That would be impressive.
Yes it would be hilarious if the Warriors got the 7th and then dropped to 8th spot after the lottery selections. I would love reading their boards it would register a 8.5 earthquake. However, I would worry about this board if the Jazz got the 8th pick and the pick became a top 3 or worse the number #1 pick.

when you look at the trades, the guys being held out longer than needed for injury, the makeshift starting lineups... it's obvious that the franchise wants to lose games.
but i agree with my brother's theory that the motivation to tank often just isn't there for players.
- charles jenkins (24-6-9 last night) doesn't even have a guaranteed contract next season, so why should he care if the Ws get a high draft pick? in fact, he may prefer they DON'T land a stud in the draft because it decreases his chances of sticking with the team -- and if he doesn't get his contract next year guaranteed, then right now he's basically auditioning for the rest of the league. for him, isn't securing some long-term security a greater priority than golden state's 2012-13 roster, a roster he might not even be a part of?
- brandon rush (averaging 20 ppg on 63% shooting over the last 3) is in a similar position. he's an RFA this summer, which means his value will likely be set by a team OTHER than the Ws. if he plays crappy, he probably has to settle for less money this summer. whether the Ws retain him or another team gets him with an offer GS doesn't want to match, his best interests have nothing to do with where the warriors will pick this year.
i could go on, but you get the idea... the front office might be all about improving draft position, but joe lacob isn't the guy who has to grab rebounds and sink shots. i don't think jenkins, rush, or the other five potential 2012 free agents really want to go into the offseason with the distinction of having lost 11 straight to end the season.

Houston just sucks. Plus, they had a pretty tough end schedule.
Not to mention Kevin Martin being out along with Lowry (who is much better than Dragic).

Also, could you imagine how many people would be calling for McHale's head if we were Houston fans? Marcus Morris (while his twin brother, who was less touted than he was, is having a decent season for the Suns) hardly saw anytime on the floor and the Rockets didn't even make the playoffs.
I mean, if you are trying to tank, why not put your 15th overall pick out there?

i would use the same logic with houston...
- does marcus camby care if the rox add a late lottery pick? he's a free agent this summer.
- does dalembert care? he has a team option for next season, which means if they draft a big, sammy might lose 6.7 million
- do goran dragic or chandler parsons care? they are both entering restricted free agency and probably need all the leverage they can get.
- i would even argue kevin martin doesn't care. he doesn't need some rook shining during his contract year, fighting for his minutes and shots.
that basically means that kyle lowry, luis scola and patrick patterson are the only ones with a long enough future in houston to really care what one additional 13th pick is going to do for their future.
moreover, look at their sked. during that awful stretch, they lost to utah, phoenix, denver (x2) and dallas -- precisely the four teams they were fighting with for a playoff spot. they didn't lay down, they just got beat by teams who also needed to win. pretty much all of those were close games (except the jazz game and @nuggets game).
