What's new

I told yall...Hood is a beast and a steal at #23.

You know all season I watched tons of college ball and hoped simultaneously that the GSW's would slip into the lottery. I was on the ultimate tank watch all season both for our pick and for the GSW pick.

When hoping for GSW I hoped all season that they would somehow land at #14 and that somehow Hood could fall to #14. If you remember all season long Hood was between 7-12. Then at the end of the year when it looked like GSW was going to make the playoffs I started focusing on players to stash or hoping that TJ Warren would fall.

Then came draft night and when the pick hit #15 I was watching with my boys at a Buffalo Wild Wings and I kept telling them.... Hopefully Hood will drop. As the picks kept falling and his name wasn't called we were like chanting... don't take Hood, don't take Hood and then when it came to our pick we were freaking out and I literally said, 'They had better take Hood, if they don't take Hood I am going to Fire Lindsay." Then his name was called and I was so happy. I was so excited. The two players (after Embiid went down) that i wanted in the draft.

Love him... I just love his all around game. He has the free throw line curl jumper that Harp and Korver used to have for us. Watch that come back this year with Q.

So stoked. This is going to be a fun 4 years.

Hood and Kawhi have similar games. Hood is coming into the league with a better shot. Kawhi was a better defender entering the league. Hopefully we can craft he and Exum into players. The Spurs draft good players and mold them into GREAT players. We have good players on our hands. It will be fun to watch them grow!

I had Rodney Hood rated almost on par with Aaron Gordon and Marcus Smart, tied with Nurkic for the 10th best player in this draft, higher than Nik Stausksas.

When the pick was on the clock I was chanting 'Rodney Hood'.

Heres my Ratings a week before the draft (a day or 2 before the Embiid Injury)

^u my bro, bru, but using a spoiler for something that is soooo past is, well, ****ing weird as ****.

Before Lindsey is fired for not getting an extra 2nd rounder in the Novak trade, I want to thank him for drafting Gobert, Hood and Exum. And everyone please remember just WHY we had that #23 pick

The reason we had first round pick is for using cap room to gain first round picks, not second rounders. Novak trade, while cost us 7.2 mil of cap room of non expiring deal, did not get us first rounder, which it should have. The fact Hood is doing well so far emphasizes the importance if getting these first round assets, which DL did well last year, but failed at this year evidenced by that poor Novak trade, while other teams like Boston get first rounders for half the price.

I am glad the Jazz are not simply playing to keep getting draft picks. They actually wanted Novak - a stretch big guy. They ended up paying a lot less then they would have for Marvin which I am sure they were aware of when they made the deal. If one looks at how the Spurs use Bonner you can understand why DL wanted him and how he thinks Novak should be used.

Cool story bro

I think coming into the draft everyone know Hood could shoot and score off the dribble on jumpers. He has looked very good running the Pick and Roll. Also he has been a ball mover-he gets the ball and makes a good decision right away. The concerns on him are still valid-can he finish at the rim/draw fouls? Will he ever progress from being a poor rebounder and defender?

He is a valuable player but let's make him out to be more than he is.

He looks like a good rebounder to me so far.

He has drawn 2 "and 1's".

He is giving effort on defense. His weak frame and short arms are going to limit him (the post defense on one of the 1st plays by Giannis).

Nope, only yamers. Just like ncjazz has been right about every Jazz first round pick of the modern era.

Gobert, Hood, and Exum all great picks. I haven't quite forgotten though that he moved up to get Burke (and please don't try to blame this on Corbin) when we could have had Giannis at 14 and saved the 3m it cost for the Gobert pick.
