I Wonder if the Jazz F/O Regret This

In Carter-Williams' debut against the Heat, he set a record for the best PG debut:

He went:
6/10 for 22 PTS
12 AST
9 STLS
7 REB

I would like to say I told you so. Myself and some others said he would be the best PG in the draft if he ever figured his shot out.

Not saying he'll do anything near this on a nightly basis this year, but wow.

His defensive potential and court vision alone made him very special...

Looks like he had a great game. Like our own players, let's see if he can keep that up. If so then his team got a baller.

Funny, I was wondering the something about the Thunder with Steve Adams watching our Gobert.

While he was slightly productive in college, he never showed anything that suggested he could do this in the league.

As of now, he's proved me wrong...but I'm still going to approach him cautiously.

The knock on MCW wasn't just that he couldn't shoot, but that he was an overrated athlete with limited ability to change speeds and get in the lane.

No doubt that's an impressive performance though.

Jazz should of drafted MCWILLIAMS

24 points 12 assists 9 steals and 7 boards

I was preaching McWilliams all along. I think jazz made a mistake once again.

76rs have an alstar in the making, all we have is a small guard with a broke finger.

One game. I'm rooting for the guy (though I hope Burke turns out better, of course), but it is still one game.

Ya know, I follow the draft thread fairly closely...and there were definitely not this many people calling for MCW. Just sayin.

I'm not too worried. Burk is a smart kid and you can tell he has heart and is willing to work & improve (reminiscent of another Jazz PG who just released a book...). While the injury might set him back a little, I think in the long run he'll be a very solid PG. MCW had a great night, but that doesn't mean he'll be better than Burk over the long haul. The upside to the injury is the opportunity for Trey to watch the plays be executed, analyze his teammates strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies. He said last night he was imagining himself actually playing the game.

Look, this is a shock to everyone. He keeps this up, which would the biggest shocker in NBA history, he'll be in the running for MVP. But I predict he won't even come close to these numbers again this year, if ever -- remember Linsanity, when Linn went on a roll. Sure, Linn is better than expected, but nearly as good as when he went on that Linsanity roll. Time will tell.

Thing is, those AST #'s are pretty comparable to what he did in college. If he's truly fixed his shot, his offense will come really easy because of how he sees the floor from a better vantage point than every other gaurd in the league. His passing ability makes everyone else on his team a threat, even the scrubs. Guards will have to respect both his passing and shooting (if he continues to shoot well) thus creating space for his whole team like no one else can (and that is what was so tantilizing about him as a prospect). Those steal #'s were ridiculous, and I don't see him replicating those too often. He also only had 1 TO in that game, which seems too good to be true when you consider all the things he was doing with the rock.I could see him matching those rebounds pretty often given his size over other gaurds.
