Ideal team for Rubio?

If you have too much time on your hands while we wait for media day, I'm curious to see what your construction of an ideal team to surround Ricky Rubio would be. I'm thinking of the SG-SF-PF-C combo built from all NBA players that would best balance two criteria:

a) Maximize Ricky's effectiveness (with his distinctive strengths and weaknesses)
b) Have Ricky maximize those players' effectiveness

So, for example, Klay Thompson might fit these criteria better than Steph Curry even though Steph is the better overall player.

And you might also comment on how close/far the Jazz are to being the sort of team this year that's ideal for Rubio.

If we target Klay Thompson when he becomes a free agent (or via trade somehow), then we would have the ideal team i'd like to see around Rubio.
A Rubio, Klay, Hood/Ingles,(healthy)Favors & Gobert is a mean line up. Top defense without the scoring issue we're probably going to have this year.

Hood or Ingles is the ideal guy in the league? Stop.

Klay, Durant, Draymond, Gobert

Rajon Rondo was effective playing with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and KG. Rubio is a bit similar. He just needs to be surrounded by shooters and at least one versatile big. The lack of shooters and ball movers in Minnesota probably didn't help Rubio's situation.

I think the biggest takeaway from the Rondo situation you brought up is that he had success in a starting lineup with three great players. Also, Rondo wasn't bad either.

I don't like to get too into thinking about needing a certain type of player to fit someone else, oftentimes it's as simple as getting the best players possible. Sure, there are cases where there might be some vital piece missing on the team (like the Clippers who have seemingly needed a good wing player for ages), but I wouldn't go on some epic hunt for 'players that fit around Rubio'

Ideally Rubio has a dive center and at least 2 shooters who can play well in transition. The PF would ideally be able to hit a 3, but at the very least needs to have a good midrange game and ability to run.

The biggest worry for me regarding team fit and Rubio is that our starting wings aren't great transition players and Favors transition ability is up in the air given his questionable knees and back.

If we play Exum, Mitchell, Sefalosha and possibly Jerebko, they can run. Rudy's a good rim runner too.

Thanks for engaging in this thought exercise. I agree with 8 that building around one player is not the way to go (unless it's someone like Lebron or Steph). But its fun to think about. I suppose if you wanted a even more challenging thought exercise, you could try to create the ideal 15-man roster around him that would fit under the salary cap. Have at it if you want.

As much as I love Rudy, I'm a little surprised nobody mentioned Anthony Davis. It seems he's a great mix of someone who can benefit from a great passer by being a great finisher (both roll and pop) as well as someone who has the ability to create on his own in the last 5 minutes when the defense tightens up and it gets harder for Rubio to create for others.

Rubio
Middleton
Crowder
Ryan Anderson
Deandre Jordan

(Just trying to build a reasonable roster, instead of a best case one)

You run 1-5 PnR to death.
