I really hope the Jazz have finally learned their lesson. Not one time did we hear from Hayward something on the lines he hopes he can get something done here. In this day in age the NBA stars are much more willing to go to where the path to a championship is easier. Presti has already said that if Westbrook does not extend, he trading him. This has to be the Jazz mentality moving forward. We have allowed asset after asset to walk due to stubbornness or ignorance. A small market team has no business risking stars walking for nothing. If this happens again jazz inner circle needs to co commit to "NEVER AGAIN"

Hayward needs to do what is Best for him and his family. It is that simple.

I hope he stays but I will always support him whatever he chooses because he has been nothing but classy.

At the end of the days players are assets that owners can trade anytime they want. I do not blame any player trying to do what is best for them.

If Haywards goal is an NBA championship, he will have an easier time, by far , in the East getting to the Finals. Winning the next few years is an issue.

Gordon has never let the Jazz know he wants to leave. Trading him based on a feeling he may leave is kind of silly. Kanter verbally came out and said he doesn't want to be here so DL traded him.

Neither has Westbrook. These guys have to be smarter. Look at Indiana. Traded PG 3 months earlier and they get a huge haul. But stuberness and stuff...even when the whole world knew LA is in his dreams.

Have we? Because going back through the past 13+ years I can't think of a single player that the Jazz lost to free agency despite being willing to pay as much as necessary to retain.

I can't remember any player of significant value that this franchise has lost to FA and not been willing to pay. I guess Karl, but that's kind of different circumstances. We could've rolled the dice with Deron, but chose not to. If Hayward does choose to leave it'll be the first time something like this has ever happened to this franchise if my memory is correct.
 
Yeah, that Dwill trade no one saw coming, and it turned out to be a really smart move. The kinda move Maneesh would approve of. So, the Jazz don't have a history of getting jilted by star players, as Maneesh is claiming.

But regarding Hayward, I understand where Maneesh is coming from - I would've loved it if the jazz traded Hayward last summer when rumors were circulating that Hayward wanted to go to Boston.
I guess, like a desperate boyfriend, the Jazz wanted one last chance to see if they could make the relationship work - and they did their darndest getting the 5th seed and making it to the second round of the playoffs. Maybe that'll be enough to prolong the Hayward affair. But, imo, Hayward has never seemed that into the Jazz. He's pretty tight-lipped and subdued and just doesn't seem all that happy here. Maybe this taciturn demeanor reminded the FO of another Stockton (swoon), but I don't think so.

Whatever, my Jazz-love is in a state of despondency. But if I pine for anything it's that the Jazz can get something in return in a sign-n-trade with Boston, ala the Chris Paul trade to Houston. I really want that Brooklyn pick, but I realize how unlikely that is. Failing that, I'd want Jayson Tatum. No? Jay Crowder? Jaylen Brown? Boston cream pie?
 
Can someone on the Jazz's own radio station step up just for 2-minutes and challenge the false Narrative that Boston is in a better position to win in the east than the jazz in the west?

Jazz had an injury riddled season, and won just 2 games fewer than Boston. Boston plays in the lousy east, where Cleveland sleepwalked through the season and still won 50+ games.

But Boston made it to the conference finals....it took them 6 games to make it past the 8 seed, 7 games to squeak past the 4 seed, and they got blown off teh court by Lebron.

But the celtics are closer to a championship because they don't have to go through the Warriors to get there....they still have to get through Lebron to face the Warriors, and if that miralce occurs they aren't beating the warriors.

The Celtics are built to win now...except that Amir Johnson, Gerald Green, Jonas Jerbeko, and Kelly Olynyk are all free agents and their Bird Rights probably have to be renounced to sign Hayward.

But Boston is built to win in the future...with Avery Bradley Isaiah Thomas and Marcus Smart becoming FA's next summer..all three are important to their success, and it is unlikely they can retain all three.

But LeBron is leaving the east next year and so the east will be wide open...says who? LeBron may give up Cleveland but he has made his career by feasting on the weak east, why would he change that next year? When he was challenged he went and joined the challenger om the east. Nobody knows what LeBron and his tag alongs will do next summer. It is just as likely that Lebron teams up with any of his FA friends in the east as it would be in the west.
 
If he leaves, I wont cry. I won't waste one single day. But if he leaves, don't look back, we'll be running the other way. Seven years went under the bridge like time was standing still. Heaven knows what happens now. He's got to, he's GOT to say he will!

Maybe Hayward wants to average 10 rebounds a game. If that is his life dream he should go play with Isaiah Thomas in Boston next season. They don't have the cap space to resign Olynk or Amir Johnson the teams third and fourth leading rebounders. Even with those two the Celts were out-rebounded all season long and badly outrebounded in the playoffs.

To make matters worse, their leading rebounder is Al Horford, who is already 31 years old, has a history of injuries and is signed for at least 28 million per for the next two or three seasons.
