If Howard goes elsewhere, Williams is likely to leave New Jersey

Nothing really surprising, but so glad the FO pulled the trigger on this before we were held hostage.

I'm not so sure we would have been held hostage. We certainly wouldn't have Favors or Kanter, but we still have Jefferson and Sap. IMO Sap + Jefferson + Hayseed + Williams + Burks makes for a pretty decent starting line up that could compete with anyone. The only thing we were missing was time and a great outside shooter which seems to be the same things we're missing now.

*edit*

We don't know that with those players that Williams would have stayed or left and we'll never know.

I'm not taking your post too seriously, but the Williams trade also brought us Burks... via sliding our draft position to a better spot than it would have been otherwise.

thx.

If Magic had spent the money wisely, now they would be in a situation in which a trade bringing Dirk or Brook Lopez in makes them a competitor immediately or in 2 years, which means Orlando would have a lot more flexibility and freedom in choosing trade partners. Now, we will see yet another FA drama, "wishlist" of some star player dictating a franchise's future.

You don't know that we would have won more/less games with DWill, so who knows, we may have ended up with Burks in either case. Also, you have no way of knowing, just like the rest of us, whether or not DWill would have stayed with the current group at the time, had the Jazz extended an offer to him when his contract was up.

Why would D Will care one bit about Opie?

I just thought about calling that lineup sexy and then slapped myself. Millsap is playing like a stud but it's the entire bench playing defense that's been the Jazz' main weapon.

you are right, there is no way of knowing exactly what will happen in the future. Congrats on getting up to speed with 16th and 17th century philosophy. We don't disagree here.

AND YET, I feel comfortable as **** with the assertion that with DWill we wouldn't have closed the year 8-20 (or whatever), and therefore, wouldn't have been in position to draft Burks. Comfortable. Like cashmere on my balls.
