What's new

If not Flagg or Harper…

I'm leaning more towards Edgecombe right now. Consistently high motor and wants to play the right way. If we get Ace I wont complain at all but I also cant really see the "best player in a championship contender" in him like so many others do.

Brandon Ingram and MPJ were both highly rated prospects once upon a time and while injuries may have hurt their development they dont excuse MPJ for still not being able to facilitate at all, or BI playing low motor unserious basketball quite often. Thats not an issue of missing practice time or about setbacks that hurt their athleticism... its just who those guys are as ballers.
Yeah same here .. VJ’s high motor pushes it over the top for me.

MPJ also got drafted to a team where his role is pigeonholed. That's probably an overall positive for him, but he has no reason to try and facilitate when his team just needs him to be a scorer/shooter

I hear you on the MPJ piece and not being able to facilitate. Ace gets the ball and is clearly thinking "score." But he doesn't strike me as the un-serious type. He goes really hard. If anything might need to rein in the emotions a bit (3 technicals this year, lol).

Love the thread. I think the Jazz have enough average guards. Are Tre or VJ going to get into the rotation ahead of Sexton or Keyonte? (Maybe in 2-3 years or maybe Sexton gets traded, but I think those players are somewhat repetitive)
My personal feeling is the Jazz may have missed on Cody Williams (I haven't given up on him as it sometimes takes a few years for players to adjust to the NBA) and it never hurts to have another defensive minded wing. I am just not sure there is a guy in the 4-6 range that fits that need.

Another thought, if the Jazz got a pick in the #4 - #6 range could Ainge offer just enough to move up?

Hope for Flagg.

Don't much like any of the 2nd tier guys, the Rutger guys in particular underwhelm me.

Maybe trade down for Knueppel as a high end 3rd/4th starter and look for the star in '26.

Then it’s everyone else. I have Edgecombe and Tre currently rounding out my top-5.
This is pretty close to how I feel as well.

Flagg

Harper

Bailey
Edgecomb

Johnson

Pray for Flagg, but prepare yourself for any of those guys after that. Beyond top 6, and this season was a total failure.

Flagg might have the highest floor of any of the draft picks I've ever followed. Harper would be a deserving #1 pick in a different year in my opinion.

It would suck to miss out on them, but all of the top 6 guys are really good prospects that we should be excited about. I'm personally less excited about Tre because of the type of player he is, but he's been doing crazy impressive stuff this year.

I don't agree with the sentiment that there are only 1 or 2 good players in this draft.

Thats perfectly fair, but we cant know whether MPJ ever had more than "role player" in him even if he landed elsewhere.

Yeah BI is probably a bad comp from my side as what Ive seen from Ace in his bad moments is that he looks more lost than unserious. So it may be more of a BBIQ question.

If we end up with the third-worst record, we’re almost certain to get one of those six players you mentioned because then our odds of falling below the sixth pick are only 7%. But if we end up with the fourth-worst record, the odds of falling below the sixth pick are 19%. In other words, we can't mess around with our remaining games.

I like Edgecomb for 3. If he can consistently hit 3s at a good rate then there is no question. Both he and Collier hitting decent 3s would be huge
