If the Cavs take Kanter at 1, should the Jazz trade for the 2nd Pick?

Minny will be looking to trade the pick if Irving is there at 2. I think the Jazz should try to package Devin Harris (a proven veteran) for the 2nd pick and some other players to make the salary caps match up.

Then If Burks is there at 12, we get a dream team that is extremely young and talented.

PG: Irving/Watson/Price
SG: Hayward/Burks
SF: Derrick Williams/AK47/Miles
PF: Derrick Favors/Millsap
C: Al Jefferson/Okur

I would say No. We know Devin Harris is a pretty good player. I wouldn't give him up for a guy who should be a good/great player. If we move up to #2 and it doesn't pan out, then what do we have? Maybe Earl Watson if we get lucky and resign him, or our third string backup Ronnie P?

I couldn't justify giving up the best point guard on the team for someone that is untested in the NBA. Sure they might work out, and if they do, it would be great, but if not, Jazz are in the Top of the lottery again next year.

Where we draft Harrison Barnes...Devin Harris is a good player but is injury prone and inconsistent on offense and defense.

I would do that in a heart beat.

But it's not gonna happen.

Why? Oh, only because 20 other teams in the NBA who don't currently have a PG named Rose, Wall, Williams and Paul would be vying for Irving. It's gonna truly become a bidding war out there.

Would Minny take Harris and call it a day? No way.

They would want at least the #3 pick + Harris, IMO.

And if the Cavs take Kanter with the 1st. Im staying pat..either way you get Irving or Williams, really it's a win win and you still have Harris and the 12th pick. I think I could see the Cavs gamble with Williams with the 1st pick and hope for Knight at 4. But then they get Kanter if Utah takes Knight. It's not like they don't have a decent pg (when he wants to be) right now. As of today I see them taking Irving and Kanter, Unless Williams falls to Utah at 3, I then see them offering us the 4th pick, taking on Memos contract, plus the 31st pick for the rights to Dwill2. Which Utah will do and then draft Knight at 4!

Ps. I really like that trade with the Cavs idea with the Cavs...Lets just hope that Dwill falls to us at 3! And maybe Utah can use the 31st pick packaged with Bell for some cap relief? Clears like 13-14 million off the books.

its probably not gonna happen
Semih Erden, another turkish player in Cavs, told yesterday that they will pick Irving

I don't believe Cleveland will draft Kanter #1, so this isn't really worth talking about. Get Irving if you can? Sure.

Now if this would have been 2003's draft class. The cavs could been one hell of a scary team. lol

Heck yeah! Lebron James at 1 then they could have had their choice of Chris Bosh or Dwayne Wade at 4. Could you imagine that team!? Wait...

The point is the Cavs, not the Heat...

Its still only 2 of 3. I get the point though. I thought of it as a knock on this draft class at first. But it is interesting to think about what each individual player would be like today if they hadn't been "the man" for the last 7 years. If the Cavs had picked Lebron and Wade together, would the two be the same "superstars" they are today...

Yes, I guess since Semih Erden is their franchise player, the Cavs GM would run everything by him first for his approval.

i told what he heard , since he is inside the franchise he would probably know better than u

In this case, wouldn't Minny still be more disposed to take Williams? I'd be thrilled with Irving, but I'd prefer Williams, but I'm not sure what I'd trade to get him. (I'd be quite happy with Williams and Jimmer but think other combinations would be potentially good also.)
