If the Jazz are kickin' trash by the trade deadline and Denver is sucking...

how about this championship-caliber trade?

Utah receives: Carmelo Anthony

Denver receives: Andrei Kirilenko and a 1st round draft pick (and whatever else Denver wants)

I've already tried the trade and it works. Nuggets probably would not go for it, but they might consider doing it if they feel that they are just going to lose Anthony to free agency in the summer. It definitely would make the Jazz an NBA Championship contender THIS SEASON. A look at a probable depth chart:

PG: Deron Williams, Ronnie Price
SG: C.J. Miles, Raja Bell
SF: Carmelo Anthony, Gordon Hayward
PF: Paul Millsap, Mehmet Okur
C: Al Jefferson, Kyrylo Fesenko

That would be an unbelievably good team. This roster would definitely challenge the Lakers for the Western Conference Championship. It would have the "Big Three" (Williams, Anthony, Jefferson) that every NBA Championship-caliber team needs. It would also have ridiculously good complimentary starters in C.J. Miles and Paul Millsap. The bench would also be very, very solid. It would be made up of a defensive-minded center to take up space (K-Fes), a potential 6th-man-of-the-year candidate (Okur), a young, all-around talented rookie (Hayward), a gritty, defensive/shooting veteran (Bell), and a super-athletic, defensive-minded guard (Price). I would have a heart attack if this type of move were to come to fruition. It's one of those "no way in a million years" type of moves that up until recently seemed impossible. However, nothing is impossible. Does Wade, LeBron, and Bosh ring a bell anybody? A guy can dream, can't he?

I'm sure that Denver could get more value out of Anthony than a expiring Kirilenko contract + Picks (if any left at this time), or anyone other than Deron.

I know. If it were somehow possible, however, we would HAVE to go for it, wouldn't we? I would consider giving the Nuggets all of our first round picks for the next few years if it meant us landing Carmelo and a possible NBA Championship-caliber team. Anthony will be an unrestricted free agent next summer, too. If Denver doesn't think that their future is Anthony and they choose to rebuild through the draft/free agency, a butt-load of 1st Round Draft Picks/Cap Space (AK's big expiring contract) might actually seem enticing. It's not like the Jazz have had that much success with 1st rounders lately, anyway.

No incentive for Denver to do that. They'd want picks and rookie contracts. Look in the division and there are better options.

Memphis pick, at least one Minnesota pick, Johnny Flynn/Ricky Rubio is much better value.

Jazz have given up a future first for Jefferson. Jazz have no other team's pick, so they can't trade consecutive picks. Best they could do, assuming the Jazz' pick goes to Minnesota next year, is picks in 2013 and 2015.

I've just thought a way to sweeten the deal. As part of the trade, we could use our trade exceptions to take Renaldo Balkman and Chris Andersen of their hands. Balkman and Andersen are the Nuggets largest and longest contracts that we could take on with our current trade exceptions. Denver would have a huge amount of cap space under a deal of this nature. We could also send them Sundiata Gaines, Jeremy Evans, and Othyus Jeffers. They would send us back a few small trade exceptions under this scenario.

Minnesota could do the same since they'd have the cap room.

It's just not feasible in any situation that Denver would trade Anthony to the Jazz for AK and stuff.

I hate Carmelo but I'd do that trade in a heart beat and be his biggest fan once he put on a Jazz jersey! Same with Kobe, hate him unless he's on my team then I love him.

We still have the rights to Tomic to trade...
