What's new

If we beat the Clippers tonight and San Antonio loses in Miami...

So now the Jazz are 2nd in the West. I didn't think it was possible. Props to the Jazz. More importantly props to Jefferson. He has played better than I thought he would.

I really don't think it should be so much of a surprise.
Did you really think that older teams like the Lakers were going to have a better record than the Jazz, when everyone is constantly playing back to backs?
I didn't, and that's why my prediction comment had the Jazz well over. 500 at the end of the season.
OKC will probably own the conference...... but the way the Jazz are playing defense right now, they can beat anybody at this point.

This morning when I pulled up the standings, the Clippers were on top of the Pacific in terms of winning %, but were actually 1/2 game back. NBA standings are shown on winning percentage. The +/- disparity in games back will take care of itself when games played becomes a bot more equal. For example, the Lakers have already played 15 games, while tonight was just the 11th for the Clippers.

This shows you that the Clippers were never the fairytale club they were supposed to be. Chris Paul has constantly been injured over the last 2 or 3 years, so that's the Clipper's fault for trading for an injury riddled player.

If both the Jazz and the Lakers were to win the exact same amount of games going forward for the rest of the season from now, the Jazz would end the season with the better record.

The Lakers have one more win than the Jazz. If the win the exact same number of games from here on out, the Lakers have a better record. If they lose the exact same snumber of games, the Jazz have a better record.

This makes the assumption that both teams will play 66 games this season.

This is how NBA.com is illustrating the standings. Either way, I'm pleasantly surprised, but also know that our schedule has been heavy with home games early on.

Yes it has but they have also had 6 back to backs. I think February will be much tougher on this team. If they get to the end of February and still have a good record and are in playoff contention that I am officially sold on this team contending.

If this team wins the championship, I will definitely believe in them.

LOL, reason I choose the end of february is that February is road game heavy. The Jazz have proven they can win consistently at home. February will give them the chance to prove they can win consistently on the road. If they can do that they have a real shot at contention.

What, beating Denver in Denver didn't make an impression?

Take a look at the western conf. Road records are not good.

PRetty much this.

I have always thought that Chris Paul is overrated. He's good, but not that good.
Where did he ever take the Hornets? One playoff series win, in all those years.
And yet we are supposed to believe that he is going to take the CLIPPERS to the wcf and beyond? Why?

It did make an impression but it was only one game. I want to see if they can keep that intensity they showed in the Denver game.

I didn't see it as CP3 carrying the Clips to playoff glory. I see it as the piece the CLips needed to compliment Billups, Griffin and Jordan. Like Pau Gasol when he was in Memphis. Guy got swept in the first round 4 times straight. Then he went to LA and they were winnng championships.

To be honest, the game that's starting to stand out as time goes on is the Philadelphia win.

I would say this and the Denver win (hopefully) The Philly win showed that good things were happening and that the Jazz were starting to handle their home court. The Denver win showed that they are trying to take that on the road.

Contention? Really?
Just wait for 3 straight losses in a couple of weeks and this board will be in meltdown.

Which is where if they have a good record after a brutal February comes in
