Wilkins trade....how is this even a debate?
'Nique over Magic? You robo-trippin?
Wilkins trade....how is this even a debate?
The problem with the Ostertag's deal is that he was getting paid more than Karl at the time.
Hey Bordelais, get the quote right. Hindsight is 50/50.
Goodrich for Magic was cruel, but who could have known that a struggling expansion franchise would get the #1 pick? Selling Wilkins to make payroll was harsh, but with Wilkins and Dantley would Layden have drafted Malone? Al Jefferson for Kosta Koufas, Donats MontiJunas, and Terrance Jones is harsh-particularly in light of Big Al being a big road block to Favors.
I would like to bring up drafting Dell Curry, then trading him for Kelly Tripuka. Karl John and Curry would've, could've, should've. Instead we were watching Bobby Hansen clank away, and then Blue Edwards fight with Sloan.
Speaking of fighting with Sloan, why did so many of our players fight with the head coach? Why did so many players not want to go to Utah even during the Stockton to Malone heydays? I believed it was Sloan that players didn't want to go play for Utah. I laughed at the the tractor quotes, but Jerry stayed too long. The NBA evolved, he didn't. If LHM hadn't have been so loyal Jerry would have been fired after losing to Seattle in the first round (93?) or asked to retire with John, or been excused after they spent all that FA money and landed in the lottery, or when they got the #3 pick and Jerry benched him, or when their 70 Million dollar man broke down in tears and later they said he didn't understand Jerry (Six years with the team and Jerry couldn't communicate with him?) Or back in the 90's when Adelman was kicking his butt with Kevin Duckworth. ANd While we are there, Jerry wanted all his players to be on the same page as him and talked about loyalty, but then he up and leaves in the middle of the season and admitted that he hadn't been doing his job? So to me I'd like to take back one of those 1 year coaching deals, and the earlier the better.
Which brings me to the next contestant. Ty Corbin. The Jazz were finally freed of Sloan and all it cost them was Deron Williams. Jerry left them in a hell of a spot. He quits and takes the #1 assistant with him. Ty did the best he could be expected to do. But rather than seizing the opportunity to do an extensive search in the off-season the Jazz just signed Ty to a multi year contract. (ironically Jerry got his job as head coach with the jazz because Layden abruptly quit) I was willing to give TY a chance but after watching the jazz foul away, running the flex, afraid to shoot 3pts, and playing Milt Pilacio instead of Derrick Favors, I'm ready to hit the undo button on his hire.
Speaking of getting things right.... we traded Dantley for Tripucka and the expiring game of Kent Benson. Next season we traded Curry and Benson's cadaver for Darryl Dawkins and Dinner Bell Mel Turpin. But I also agree, Dell Curry >>>> Bobby Hansen and Blue Edwards.I would like to bring up drafting Dell Curry, then trading him for Kelly Tripuka. Karl John and Curry would've, could've, should've. Instead we were watching Bobby Hansen clank away, and then Blue Edwards fight with Sloan.
3) Wesley Matthews - I blame them not matching Matthews on the troubles that led to the loss of Sloan and Williams.
Huh? If it's 50/50, then hindsight is still a crap shoot.Hey Bordelais, get the quote right. Hindsight is 50/50.
