What's new

I'll be posting better

Just ran 3.25 miles in 26:52.

First mile = 8:36
Second mile = 8:20
Third mile = 8:00
Last quarter mile = 7:44 pace

I am starting to push myself harder which generally isn't good. However, I'm really only running every 4th day or so so my legs should be pretty fresh and have little wear and tear on them. Plan on lifting tomorrow, taking off Thursday, lifting Friday, doing Spin class Saturday morning, lifting Sunday, rowing on Monday, and then resting at least Tuesday, and maybe Wednesday too, though I may lift that day.

You can't be serious?

Are you training for a triathlon or something????

If he is he is going to be ****ed for the swimming portion.

I do want to start swimming once every 7-10 days. There's an indoor facility 10-15 minutes from my house that's cheap as hell ($3 per visit I think?) and I'd love to start to get it in as some cardio that doesn't beat up my body and can help me with my lower back issues and weaker core/hammies. It could be perfect. I only swam once all summer and our town pool is five minutes away. Oh well. Never too late.

LOL. I guess our perceptions of working out are just different. If I wasn't so damn injury prone, I'd be lifting every other day (chest/tris, back/bis, shoulders) with some legs mixed in as well in 65-95 minute increments, with a combination of running, rowing, basketball and swimming every other day as well. That said, I'd get injured and as time's gone by realize I simply need to take days off. Which isn't the worst thing because I'm also quite lazy by nature and tired as hell after work. So with a lot of my meetings on Mondays, I'll probably just take a lot of Mondays, and maybe even Tuesdays too, off.

Day 1-Longish run outdoors
2-Lift chest and triceps
3-Off
4-Lift back and biceps
5-Swim
6-Lift shoulders
7-Lift legs
8-Lift chest and tris
9-Row
10-Off
11-Lift back and bis
12-Basketball
13-Off
14-Lift shoulders
15-Off
16-HIIT/Sprint workout
17-Lift chest and tris
18-Lift legs
19-Lift back and bis
20-Off
21-Off

Something like this for a schedule with core integrated fairly regularly once I kept my sealegs under me.

I also want to listen to my body. If I am too fatigued, I just need to say **** it, and take 2-3 days off in a row even.

You gotta start somewhere!

Haha.. nah last year I bought a treadmill & a home gym and went all out and lost about 10 kg (22 lbs), I've gained about 4kg back and I'm now at about 68kg (150 lbs), which is a weight I'm pretty happy/comfortable with.

I do weigh myself every now and then, and if it starts to get up to 68.5kg, I go for a run on the treadmill, just to keep the weight down. But yeah I realized that if I watch what I eat I don't usually go over my limit of 68kg very much.

Good for you. I was better with that this past winter too. Usually I balloon up to about 222-229 but I was good about not cramming 12 donuts down my throat on a Sunday and better at limiting my poor decisions.

I say all this as I down about 30 Jolly Ranchers.

Yah it makes a HUGE different watching what you eat... it's doubly bad for your body: 1) the body works hard to digest the excess food, 2) you wear your body down working out bad for your joints, etc.

Lose/lose situation.

I wonder why he has a hard time with the ladies?

Is there going to be some kind of meter to gauge the increased posting quality? And will there be an after-party? Maybe donuts?

The party will likely entail me going back to being a dick but simply not as often and with better quality. Pretty sure I may be building to that is all.

I've been working out still. Definitely lost some weight. Feeling so much better though my heart does feel funny here or there when I'm running so I'm going to see a cardiologist in November I think.

I ran 4.00 miles on Wednesday in 32:01. 8:29, 7:55, 7:45, 7:49 were my splits in that order. I swam 600 meters today. I've really never swam before in any kind of a formal way. Last week I did swim 400 meters but I took breaks every 50-75 meters or so. Today, I swam all 600 meters straight through in 16:14. Pretty solid. 40.6 seconds per 25 meters. Nothing special, that's for sure, but for someone whose legs do little more than dangle and who is just getting a feel for it, I'm really pleased. I'm hoping to swim 800 meters straight through next Friday and at a slightly faster pace. Sub 40 seconds per 25 meters is what I'm thinking. I'd love to continue with this once a week and by year end be at a mile+ at sub 38 second pace. I'll probably work in some interval training so that I strengthen and use my legs more. Maybe 50 yard repeats where I do 50 hard (around 1:10 per) and 50 easy, back and forth.

Okay, that's all for now. Just wanted to update people.

I've found in my adventure of losing 80lbs that High intensity interval training was the way to go. I always felt like a mil bucks after, not high stress and you can do it in numerous ways. Only tallies about 20m.
I did it with lap swimming and basketball.
Also nutrition goes hand in hand, or else it's like you're peddling backwards.

If you are body building while trying to shred fat your weight will fluctuate. a lot.
