What's new

Im buying Westbrook stock.

Yeah Westbrook and Fisher are the only guys that I do not like on the Thunder. Everyone has bought into that system except Westbrook. It is all about him and always will be.

They don't have a "system", they are an ISO-based team.

Westbrook had a dumb foul at the end of the game. BUT, he was the reason they were in the game. Durant had TWO rebounds, three assists and three turnovers. Why does Durant get a pass for being passive (yes, two rebounds is being passive and shows lack of effort), but Westbrook gets hammered for trying?

Durant was out rebounded by Chalmers, Wade, Battier and Jones, all much smaller players.

You know exactly what I meant. Stop being a douche.

I honestly don't know what you mean. They have an ISO system, Westbrook is a part of that system. It's what the Thunder do and Westbrook did what Scott Brooks told him, attack the rim and be aggressive.

Westbrook passed up that open 3 to give Durant an open 3 and they won the game.
Westbrook is a huge part of the reason the Thunder are in the NBA finals and once had home court advantage.
Westbrook runs inside an offense like Kobe Bryant does (not). Being able to play within an offense was the only thing setting Bryant and Jordan apart.
The same dark cloud follows LBJ and Westbrook around. LBJ is silencing the haters. Westbrook will too.

Sorry Cy and Freak I was MIA.

Yes, OKC is a very Iso heavy team. No wonder as they have several players that excell at it. To me, however, it appears that the rest of the team plays iso ball but is still a team. Westbrook is in it for himself. My use of "system" was used loosely.

Granted my not liking him is based of personality and not skills. Westbrook is extremely talented and I will make no attempt to say otherwise.

I'm certainly not a Westbrook hater. I'd take him on the Jazz without a 2nd thought. However, I think the biggest knock on him is his stupidity during games, which is definately legit, and I'm not sure it's fixable. With Lebron, IMO, pretty much all the criticism is just sour grapes by people who just don't like him.

Iso ball isnt always bad. Sometimes you need a guy who can do that. Sometimes everything else breaks down and you need a hero. We sure could have used a guy like that last year. The Thunder needed that last night, it just fell short.

Westbrook just has to find the right balance in his game. Thats what makes Dwill so good(i know, u hate him) because he could easily go back and forth between pure point to hero ball whenever it was time. Westbrook could be a lot better than Deron if he put it all together.

I think Westbrook will get better at these decisions. It will just take some time.

I'm right there with you. However, I see a lot of Westbrook name in mouth syndrome too. Everything he does will be overscrutinized with faults real or perceived blown out of proportion. Most these guys with the dark cloud deserve at least a little of this scrutiny, if not all of it and more. What annoys me the most though is ESPN's determination to talk about the T.O.'s of the sporting world when the majority of us just don't give a damn. They have to create controversy and stir the pot. Yeah, Westbrook does some stupid ****, but it looks to me like he's trying to correct his weaknesses. Last season everyone was talking about how he's a chemistry killer and a thorn in the lockerroom. Unsubstantiated, but okay, maybe they were right then. If they were then Westbrook has fixed that fault. There's no reason to believe he's not trying to be a team player at this point.

But I do wish he'd learn to play inside an offense. It's frustrating watching guys who could dominate if they would simply run to the right spots.

The bad part is that when the ISO player gets cold, everyone else is cold too because they haven't had a chance to score.

Miami avoids that problem more because they have Lebron who is probably the best pure passer behind Rondo, Nash, Paul, and Williams.

Well "system" is usually meant to describe play based teams, I was just saying they don't have that they are an ISO system instead.

I think I got it.

They don't have a system, except for the system they got which really isn't a system the way you're supposed to think of a system, but instead is a different kind of system that isn't really a system at all, but you have to call it something, so why not call it a system.

If I'm not mistaken, I just read recently how Westbrook has voiced his malcontent for Brooks' inability or unwillingness to "run plays" designed to get the ball to Durant and Harden through him.

When OKC want or need to they can run plays just as well as SAS which they proved recently. And don't fool yourself tagging SAS basketball as 'smart' system and OKC's ball - pure ISO. Majority of amazing SAS basketball is breaking down defenses by simple pick-n-rolls done by highly talented players. All that extra passing is just a cherry on the top because all is done against already broken and confused defense. Triangle and Flex have much more 'system' in them then whatever SAS and OKC run and it's funny to hear how people try to contrapose those two.

Ya I guess. I know what you are saying, and I think there is truth to it. However, if you are supposed to be that good, and you are paid handsomely. Shouldnt you be ready and able to play like that a little bit? No excuses right? Be ready.
Westbrook was on fire last night. The right move was to keep going through him. That was a show he was putting on. And when a guy is going like that you get out of the way.

I think its a little too much crticism for people to put the failure of last nights game on Westbrook. Its just too much to expect him to play perfect. He darn near was last night.

Something no one is talking about is when that idiot Fisher tried to take over the game with that drive down the middle. That play hurt OKC as much as any of those other bad plays. There was also another play where Westbrook should have got the ball under the basket, but it was passed out to sefalosha(I think) for a jump shot. Westbrook was competing his *** off last night. When the rest of the team was a no show practically.

I really enjoyed watching Westbrook last night.. I wanted Westbrook to finish it off for some redemption. I felt bad for him the way it ended.
