Is that with hearts of palm? Kind of looks like that.

You mid-westerners are clueless.

Homemade buttermilk pancakes, whatever butter, local maple syrup (made the traditional way with buckets and taps, then boiled down over a wood fire...no tubes, reverse osmosis, etc. That would be gross). Add some bacon to make it a meal.

And dog is delicious.

I recommend it. It is really basic, but for some reason it is always really great. They have good bread, great ingredients, and it is delivered fast and pretty cheap. I am addicted. My favorite is the Turkey Tom (with sprouts, avocado, tomato, hot peppers). You will be hard-pressed to find a better place for a quick lunch. Often they hand me my sandwich before I am done paying for it.

Oh yeah and give the Jimmy Chips a try. They are nice kettle-style chips. I like the barbeque flavor, but the jalapeno chips are pretty good too.

I can second this. I get the Italian. I have to hurry and say no mayo right after I say Italian and make sure the guy making it hears me or they will have already put the mayo on it. In my opinion the sandich is terrible with mayo but pretty damn good without and add hot peppers. They usually do have it done before my credit card has gone through.

No mayo? What's wrong with you? I think the mayo in my beach club was what made it extra yummy.

I like mayo just fine, but for some reason it destroys their Italian. I prefer to be able to taste the dressing and vinegar.

Jimmy Johns get a B+/A- for me. Good bread, good meat, good chips, and fast. One of the better sandwich chains.

Better sandwiches? Sneiders Meats - they have a deli in the back that make great samwiches.

But what about their sandwiches?

(I almost made a "meat in the back" joke but decided against it.)

I keep hearing about kolaches, could anybody explain this? Is this a new fad or am I just noticing something that's always been there. What's the deal?
